Infection Control Coordinator

**Job Overview**:
As an integral member of the Practice Health Check team the Infection Control Coordinator (ICC) provides expertise and consultation to meet the needs of an evolving infection prevention and control program. The ICC reports to the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for operations and consults with both the President and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for clinical issues.
**Responsibilities**:
- The ICC is responsible to obtain a complete understanding of the requirements of the project.
- The ICC will keep up to date on all PIDAC best practice guidelines, RCDSO standards, CDC guidelines, and other population specific related guidelines as directed by Practice Health Check.
- On-site facility visits, complete with detailed reports of findings, suggestions and guidance for improvement or remediation of best practices.
- Provide direction to clients in relation to Infection Prevention and Control best practices as set out by provincial guidelines and standards and/or professional regulatory bodies.
- Is accountable to participate in the development and management of any new policies or procedures and coordinate their implementation.
- Is accountable to perform on site audits and document findings in a clear and concise manner as directed by Practice Health Check leadership.
- Preparation of and assistance with corrective plans of action related to survey deficiencies.
- Delivers on-site and virtual and/or audio-based educational programs.
- Participates in the review and revision of internal infection control manuals and supporting templates and materials.
- Maintains and grows client relationships through ongoing communications and a systematic process for client follow-up.
- The ICC will be available to schedule regular status meetings with the President, COO, or project lead to provide status updates and task lists.
- Any significant infection control concerns observed during an onsite investigation will be communicated to the President, COO, and CMO.
- The ICC will provide onsite education to clients on topics including but not limited to basic infection control principles, risk assessment, environmental cleaning, sterilization and reprocessing.
- The position is mostly weekdays, but occasional assessments on weekends, and occasional evening educational event may be required.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in a health-related field
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is an asset, or must be obtained as a condition of employment
- Minimum 5 years experience as an infection control coordinator or related health field
- Significant clinical knowledge in infection control, epidemiology, sterilization and reprocessing and across multiple healthcare settings including acute care, independent healthcare facilities, dental practices and physicians’ offices
- Motivated self-starter with initiative and strong management, organizational, and problem solving skills
- An innovative and customer centered individual with excellent communication and critical thinking skills
