**Position summary**

The Work Experience Coordinator is a key member of the Science Internship team and will work both with students and employers in a twofold capacity.

Working with employers, this position will foster a relationship with current and prospective employer partners to create high quality, paid, diverse employment opportunities. This includes promoting the program to the employers, assisting them in advertising their opportunity(ies), site visits and evaluations, as well as the coordination of Employer Information Sessions and on-campus interviews (as required).

Working within a student portfolio, the position will be responsible for advising students about work experience, admitting students into the program, prepping the students for the work search process (resume writing and interview preparation) as well as following students' progress closely during the work term (site visits and evaluations). The position will be the ongoing contact for both the student and employer throughout the term.

**Duties**
- Assists with the development, delivery and evaluation of programming and services in the CCIS Career Centre.
- Collaborate with the UofA Career Centre, faculty partners and other stakeholders.
- Working directly with students_
- Promotion of the SIP program through regular contributions to student newsletters, participating in student recruitment activities, career fairs and other special events.
- Provide direction to current and prospective students by advising on program offerings, communicating associated career education activities, and supporting student progress through the work search process.
- Support students throughout their internships and monitor progression through site visit(s), evaluations, and e-class activities. Identify and intervene in problematic situations that arise during work terms in conjunction with relevant participants
- Working directly with Employers_
- Working with SIP employer partners on developing position descriptions, advertising and supporting the recruitment process, establishing the employer mentorship commitment, scheduling, and conducting site visits, and finalizing the performance evaluations for the work term

**Minimum Qualifications**
- An undergraduate degree
- 1-2 years of progressive work experience that demonstrates a customer service focus in delivering a product, project or service to the organization
- Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Doc, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills including strong ability to demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing competing priorities
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and attention to detail
- Some evening and weekend work will be required
- Some travel (within Canada) may be required
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving abstract required to conduct site visits

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Knowledge of the university environment (preferably the University of Alberta)
- The ability to interact and/or provide advice and support to all levels, (diverse individuals and competing demands) within a dynamic work environment
