Irs Program Coordinator

**Summary**:
Working under the general direction of the Director of Programs, in collaboration with the IRS Cultural Coordinator. The IRS Program Coordinator provides operational support to the IRS team and constituents. The IRS Coordinator will be a driven person, capable of planning, coordinating, and facilitating. This role will support the daily operations of the IRS Program. It is expected that the IRS Coordinator have the ability and skills to work safely with constituents who may be hostile, oppositional and volatile, while at all times maintaining composure and behave in a professional and dignified manner. Drawing from AHWC’s mission statement and values, the IRS Coordinator will work as a member of a diverse, inter-professional team. They will be a welcoming, kind, and compassionate person for community members when they visit the IRS Program. The Coordinator should demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the histories, traditions, and cultures of Indigenous peoples, inclusive of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Communities and Nations.
**Responsibilities**:
- Welcomes and supports all Indigenous - First Nation, Inuit, and Métis - and non-Indigenous community members entering AHWC / IRS, including people who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and persons who live with disabilities; sees to their immediate comfort
- Implement and manage the day-to-day activities and operations of the IRS Program activities including the establishment and monitoring of performance management standards, expectations and program milestones.
- Possesses the ability to build strong relationships with community partner organizations
- Ensure that members of the urban Aboriginal community are aware of, and have ready access to, the services of the Aboriginal Health & Wellness Centre, community based groups and agencies, and other Aboriginal agencies in order to meet the needs of constituents in a structured, comprehensive manner
- Engages with community members to identify their specific needs
- Follows-up where needed with community members seeking resources
- Assists in response to emergencies by being familiar with the fire plan, emergency procedures, safety protocols, and location of emergency equipment, etc.
- Maintain a thorough and accurate record of all activities, attendees, and relevant activity statistics for program review and budgeting
- Possesses knowledge of social issues such as poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, substance use, mental health/illness, racism, and other challenges faced by Indigenous populations in Winnipeg
- Promotes traditional medicines
- Attends staff meetings as required
- Meets with Director of Programs as required
- Other duties that may be assigned
**Qualifications**:
Two or more years of Senior Management experience in a community-based agency or service delivery organization
Post-secondary education is considered an asset, however relevant training/experience will also be considered
Ability use the various programs of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to function independently and as an effective team member.
Supervisory and administrative experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in general program or project management, financial management
Ability to write monthly and quarterly program activity reports.
Excellent communication, both written and oral skills as well as interpersonal skills.
Experience in working with the urban Aboriginal community.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize is essential.
Ability to speak and Aboriginal language is a definite asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of Traditional Aboriginal values, beliefs and healing approaches.

**Salary**: From $30.00 per hour
