Metis Child, Family & Community Services (MCFCS) Agency _**_is a mandated child and family services agency with the responsibility to administer and provide culturally relevant community-based child protection and support services for Metis and Inuit people in Manitoba. Metis Child, Family and Community Services and our entire Métis CFS System is evolving and shifting our practices to be ready for the exciting changes that will be coming as a result of the new Federal Act. We have launched and expanded on some very important initiatives that include welcoming family to be at the center of our practice where they participate in planning and decision-making as we walk alongside them on their healing journey._
- The Metis CART "Creating Authentic Relationships Together" _Program (Metis CART) is a wraparound program that walks alongside parents who struggle with their relationship with substances and supports the family in ways that will allow their children to live with them safely._
- Our Metis Connect Program has seen great success connecting children and youth to their extended families, community and culture as well as making it possible for parents to get the extra family/ community support they need to go home safely with their babies at birth and/or reunify safely with their children again. We believe in planning around the kitchen table rather than the boardroom table. This has also allowed our agency to expand its own Kinship Care program while meeting with families._

**Position Summary**

As a member of the Resource Department, the Transportation Program Coordinator is responsible for the management of the MCFCS Agency’s Transportation Program which is delivered by volunteer and paid drivers. Primary responsibilities are recruitment, supervision, training, coaching, mentoring, supporting and retention of drivers. This is achieved in partnership with all teams within the Agency. It is the responsibility of every position to provide, where requested culturally relevant service or assist with access to such service.

**Education and Experience**
- Post Secondary certificate, diploma or degree in Social Sciences.
- Two years’ experience in volunteer management.
- Experience working with Metis people.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Demonstrated understanding of Metis culture and communities.
- Computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to develop, support, educate and coordinate volunteers with varying levels of experience and expertise.
- Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to mediate and problem solve.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
- Ability to assist with program development.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Supervision and Consultation**
- Provide leadership with short and long-range goal planning for the Transportation Program.
- Recruit, train, coordinate, support, and evaluate a team of volunteers and staff within the Transportation Program.
- Provide leadership towards enhancing the Transportation Program in partnership with agency teams.
- Attend meetings including unit, team, and others as required.
- Design plans with individual volunteers and staff including goal setting and methods for indicating signs of success.
- Develop and conduct volunteer and staff orientation and training.

**Program Delivery**
- Develop, implement, and modify the Transportation program to ensure standards of excellence are in place and maintained.
- Follow a strength-based family-focused approach.
- Plan and coordinate special events including volunteer and staff recognition events.
- Promote public knowledge of the Agency Transportation Program through workshops, public events, displays, newsletters, and other promotional material for recruitment.
- Prepare Transportation Program communications, information pamphlets, program proposals, reports, and correspondence.
- Network with community groups and agencies to enhance the Transportation Program.
- Match drivers appropriately with families, children, and youth who need the services.

**Administration**
- Develop the Transportation Program management policies and procedures manual in collaboration with HR.
- Manage all funds appropriated to the program as required by financial policies.
