We are seeking an **Accounting Clerk** to join our team in the **Toronto** office.

You will be responsible for providing support to the Toronto & Vaughan accounting teams in a fast-paced and challenging environment. You will assist with accounting systems maintenance and processing trust transactions (deposits, cheques, out-going wires, etc.). You will be required to liaise with lawyers & legal assistants and respond to inquiries in a timely manner as well as support the accounting managers with various projects & ad hoc assignments.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Set up and maintenance of the Aderant financial system, including but not limited to updating standard hourly rates, general ledger accounts, cost codes, and tax codes. Receive and resolve user support calls relating to Aderant. Troubleshoot problems and work with the IT department as required.
- Provide hands-on support to the Toronto accounting team and process cheques, deposits & out-going wires. Monitor the bank accounts online for incoming wires/EFT’s for both accounts receivable payments and real estate & corporate closing deals. Invest/redeem client trust funds.
- Review and process trust cheque requisitions. Ensure information is complete & accurate including proper authorizations, client matter numbers, codes and client direction. Input information into Aderant and print cheques or prepare out-going wires.
- Provides back-up support with condominium bank reconciliations and helps to clear outstanding balances. Also assists with sorting & depositing cheques received for various condominium projects.
- Assists the Sr. Accounting Manager with lawyer/assistant inquiries, firm insurance renewals and requests from other departments within the firm.
- Various project & ad hoc requests by the other accounting Managers & CFO.

**What you'll bring**:

- Completion of an accounting program from college or equivalent work experience in an accounting department.
- Experience working with accounting systems including Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable. Knowledge of Aderant an asset.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Dedication to providing timely and quality work for clients.
- Strong communication skills.
- Prioritization skills in a very busy and multi-faceted environment.
- Must be able to work both as a team player and independently.
