We have a full-time position for an experienced, detail oriented and skilled medical office assistant to work in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): scheduling of outpatient and/or inpatient procedures, scheduling pre-assessment appointments, preparation of patient charts and filing as required, telephoning patients with appointments and instructions to arrive, answering telephone and direct patients to appropriate individual, faxing, corresponding with law offices and scheduling independent medical examinations and other secretarial/receptionist duties as required.
- Requires successful completion of a recognized Medical Office Administration program /diploma or equivalent at the community college level, plus a minimum of two (2) years related practical experience
- Previous experience managing O.R. bookings scheduling
- Must be proficient in written and oral communication skills
- Must be organized in approaching work tasks and able to prioritize effectively and multi-task
- Must be very adept at exercising tact and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive and highly confidential issues
- Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and act independently using sound judgment when taking initiative on a wide range of issues
- Ability to recognize when direction is needed when there are competing demands, including time sensitive requests
- Good problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated proficiency and advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Word required; Excel preferred
