As a Natural History Interpreter at John Walter Museum, Muttart Conservatory and the John Janzen Nature Centre, you will inspire, motivate, and connect guests to Edmonton and the world around them.

**Your duties will include**:
**Interpreters will be responsible for the following tasks**:

- Facilitate and assist in developing a variety of educational programs including school and group programs, day camps, and birthday parties
- Deliver drop-in programs for the general public which consist of roving, or point interpretation, guided hikes/tours, large group presentations and theatrical presentations with costumes
- Provide excellent customer service to parents, teachers, group leaders, and the general public prior to and during programs
- Assist in the maintenance of artifacts, exhibits and program supplies as well as the care and handling of small animals involved with the programs
- Set up and take down program activities
- Independently research program elements and complete administrative tasks
- Work at the John Walter Museum, the Muttart Conservatory and John Janzen Nature Centre based on facility needs
- Conduct other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Current registration in or completed post-secondary degree or diploma in Education, Biological or Environmental Sciences, Drama, History, Recreation and Leisure Studies or a related field considered as an asset
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Hire is dependent on Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as required
- Ability to attend staff training May 02 - 06, 2024

**Assets**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of local natural history and/or human history
- Some experience developing and delivering educational content such as leading activities or games with the general public, tour groups, and children
- Highly developed verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt presentations to diverse audiences
- Experience working in a natural history park, zoo, botanical garden, museum or other interpretive facility

**Hours of Work**:40** **hours per week; shifts varying from Sunday through Saturday. Ability to work holidays, weekends and evenings as required.

**Salary Range**:$18.067 - $22.361 (Hourly)
