Recreation Program Manager
Reports to: General Manager

Overview:
Qualifications:
1. A community college degree/university degree in recreation therapy, recreation & leisure, psychology, sociology or geronotoly plus a certification in recreation. Certifications in management an asset.

2. SMART Serve certification required

3. 2+ years of experience working with seniors, preferably in long-term care or retirement setting

4. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, creativity and high motivation

5. Demonstrated ablility to supervise and motivate other, including staff, residents and volunteers

6. Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

7. Familiarity with community resources an asset

8. Knowledge of Microsoft word, Canva and other word processors an asset

9. Valid driver license, and willingness to obtain special class license.

Physical Demands:
1. Standing for long periods of time during events/programs

2. Walking short/long distances, up/down stairs

3. Pulling, pushing and lifting to relocate furniture, gaming pieces, etc - up to 50lbs

4. Reading/writing documentation of programs/events on both computer and paper formats

5. Speaking/communicating to large groups of individuals, some with impairments, for long periods of time

6. Bending, kneeling, providing walking support for residents where required

7. Sitting for long-periods of time creating posters/calendars/invitations

**Responsibilities**:
1. Develop, implement and evaluate recreation programs and services to meet the social, emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual needs of residents

2. Complete recreation assessments for all new residents, as well as on an annual basis for current residents

3. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to support program objectives

4. Lead the development and distribution of program materials such as newsletters, calendars, invitations, ect

5. Manage department budget as needed and ensure all programs supplies are stocked as necessary

6. Coordinate any volunteers/volunteer programs as required

7. Schedule all entertainment/vendors/special events for the year

8. Decorate community according to upcoming holidays/seasons

9. Conduct monthly Program Department meetings to discuss upcoming events, as well as any issues/concerns/comments residents have with current programs

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- DCS / DEC (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Programming: 2 years (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (preferred)
