L.I.F.E. Sessions Coordinator

The Chimo Youth Retreat Centre is a non-profit organization that has served children, youth and families in the Edmonton region for over 50 years. Our great team provides a broad range of programs and services to youth between the ages of 13-18 that include securing housing, training in personal living skills, relationship skills, parenting support, education, and supports for independence Together with our community partners, we assist young people on their road to successful independence.

L.I.F.E. Programming provides participants a variety of group-based opportunities to support their development in a holistic manner. Each L.I.F.E. opportunity is designed for the participant to accomplish one or more of the following:

- **L**earn a skill.
- Explore their **I**dentity.
- Build **F**riendships.
- Increase their **E**mpowerment.

This is a temporary position ending August 31, 2024, with the possibility of an extension.

**The L.I.F.E. Sessions Coordinator will be responsible for providing the following services**:

- Based on the needs and interests of the youth, develop programming to meet the objectives of LIFE programming (i.e. games nights, socials, book club, cooking club, summer program, etc.)
- Support youth in the development of healthy relationships, emotional regulation, positive lifestyles, personal safety, time management, leisure and recreation opportunities, self-advocacy, education, life skills development and vocational exploration.
- Respond to crisis and implement safety plans as needed, during the implementation of running of Summer Program.
- Facilitate Summer Programming.
- Critical thinking and creative problem solving as a means of providing high-quality services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent facilitation, organizational and time management skills
- Completing detail-oriented, time-sensitive documentation
- Possess knowledge of community resources that support our youth
- Completion of contact notes, significant incident reports, and other required documentation

**Education, Credentials and Requirements**:

- Applicants must have a 2-year diploma or university degree in human services.
- A clear and current (within 6 months) Criminal Records Check and Children Services Intervention Record Check
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, clean driving record and 3 years driving experience.
- Vehicle insurance with a minimum of $2 million liability and business use coverage
- Training in First Aid, Suicide Intervention and Crisis Intervention
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses minimum)

Hourly Rate: $25.00 per hour (includes 6% vacation pay)

Schedule:
Flexible hours leading up to summer which can include evenings and/or weekends, depending on the needs of the program and the young people.

During July and August, run a 3-day-per-week day program from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm using the remaining hours for future program planning, likely 30+ hours per week.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $24.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25 per week
