**THE ROLE**
Reporting to the HRBP Director, the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic partner and internal advisor to their assigned business units who provides coaching and counsel to leaders on human resources solutions that drive and support business goals as well as a high-performing and engaged work environment.
The HRBP drives initiatives that impact employee engagement and retention, employee/labour relations, organizational effectiveness, talent management, performance, and operational efficiency, as well as an inclusive culture.
**WHO YOU ARE**
- Strong judgment and logical abilities are drawn from a basis of a strong understanding of HR principles that allows for a capacity to navigate ambiguous situations and come up with sound and defensible solutions.
- Demonstrate leadership, collaboration, coaching, negotiation, and influencing skills across all levels and functions needed to partner with stakeholders.
- Excellent communicator who can explain complex ideas in an approachable and understandable manner.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Able to work in a hybrid work environment and manage their schedule in a professional manner so they are accessible to their stakeholders.
- You are detail-oriented.
**A DAY IN THE LIFE**
- Acts as an advisor by providing advice and/or coaching on confidential and complex HR issues.
- Partners with the leaders to identify and understand strategic people and labour issues and use expertise to provide advice and action plans to develop short and long-term business strategies, and solutions.
- Partners and/or strategizes the planning, execution, and management of various programs in the areas of employee engagement and retention, talent management, diversity and inclusion, succession planning, performance management, rewards and recognition, and compensation
- Uses sound judgment, logic, and expertise to conduct workplace investigations and resolve sensitive employee issues and complaints.
- Uses data to measure and manage key performance metrics (turnover, engagement, etc); analysis trends and develops proactive actions to further support business objectives.
- Manages specific projects as determined by the HR Leadership team and participates in functional and cross-functional initiatives
- Works with Operations and Risk Management team in managing WCB/WSIB claims and participates in the return-to-work process ensuring employees transition safely into their pre-injury jobs.
- Researches and analyzes internal and external compensation and benefits trends to provide suggestions to the business.
- Has a strong understanding of both federal and provincial laws in order to respond and work with Legal department to address compliance issues (ex. legal demand letters, lawsuits, labour relations board complaints, discrimination claims)
- Maintains an up-to-date understanding of current and emerging trends and best practices in HR
**REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resourcesor a related post-secondary equivalent; CHRP/CHRL, or other related professional certification.
- 5 Years of relevant human resources experience
- Sound knowledge of all HR disciplines including employment law, performance management, employee/labour relations, employee engagement, talent management, and compensation
