Property Maintenance Specialist

**Job description**
Sweet Digs is Halifax's largest Airbnb management company. We have roughly 100 spaces across the HRM and a staff of 15-20 that facilitates 100's of travellers every month.
Our company is entering a rapid growth stage and we are looking for a person that likes to work with their hands, and is willing to learn new skills.
You'll collaborate with the design team, overseen by our Lead Designer. Your role involves evaluating and maintaining both existing and new units, ensuring the upkeep of current ones, and contributing to the perfection of new units to enhance the experience of our guests.
**Responsibilities**:
- Performing a wide array of "handyman" activities (repair walls, painting, hanging shelves, installing flooring, installing door locks, and many other small/large things involved in property management)
- Assembling furniture
- Performing preventive maintenance on guest rooms and public areas, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, repairing walls, painting, and replacing furniture.
- Responding promptly to guest requests for maintenance or repairs.
- Troubleshooting and repairing plumbing and electrical problems, including replacing fixtures and outlets.
- Conducting regular inspections of the hotel's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to identify potential problems and take corrective action.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for performing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Work with outside vendors and contractors to complete larger maintenance projects, as needed.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and policies, including the use of personal protective equipment and the proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop and storage areas.
- Moving equipment and furniture to new properties
- Keeping a detailed maintenance schedule
**Key Abilities**:
- Confident using power tools
- Operating a truck and trailer
- Able to lift heavy objects
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies.
- Extra: (basic plumbing & electrical skills)
**Compensation**:
- $22 per hour
- Gas reimbursement
**Expected hours**:
- 20-30 hours per week (on average)
**Requirements**:
- Canadian work permit
- Valid driver's license
- Have your own transportation (a plus)
