**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The duties for this position may involve but are not limited to:

- Conduct physical and cognitive demands analysis for job positions.
- Conduct medical or preventative ergonomic workstation assessments for members to identify potential risks and hazards to be rectified.
- Support Health & Safety and Health & Ability regarding member accommodation to assess and ensure fit of job or task to the physical and mental capabilities of the member.
- Gather preliminary information related to member inquiries, complaints, hazard and provide report to the H&S Specialist for investigation. Assist with further information gathering and consult on proposed recommendations.
- Assist with the review of YRP017 Injured on Duty Reports to verify if Health & Safety follow up is required or if members require support as it relates to the Mandatory Blood Testing Act.
- Assist with member injury investigations to support leadership with the identification of prevention plans, corrective actions or improvements.
- Collaborate with other units regarding safe work place design and set up, process flow and equipment used to identify and mitigate risk related to hazards and equipment interaction.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of safe work procedures and/or changes implemented to improve efficiency and reduce injuries.
- Provide education to members on ergonomic best practices, workstation set up and office equipment adjustments to ensure safe workstation set up.
- Assist with the development and delivery of Health & Safety training including ergonomics, workstation set up, hazard awareness, orientation, prevention and awareness initiatives etc.
- Assist with programs such as naloxone administration, respirator fit testing, flu shot clinics, etc.
- Design and implement an MSD prevention program, including ergonomics awareness and education modules.
- Act as Designated Officer in situations of potential Communicable Disease exposure, conduct exposure assessments and engage with the Supervisor, Health & Safety and Public Health for next steps.
- Assist with inspection and/or review and evaluate physical workplace environments, equipment & practices within corporate & legislated Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Act, regulations and standards.
- Provide general support to the Health & Safety office while acting as an ambassador of YRP’s health and safety programs to benefit all members.
- Assist with monitoring the designated substances program and maintenance.
- Assist with conducting research on best practices as it relates to all areas of workplace health and safety.

**MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Successful completion of a three (3) year university degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Health Science, Human Resources, Ergonomics or a related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in health and safety, ergonomics, workplace inspection, or hazard identification.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Advanced knowledge of legislation and regulations covering Occupational Health and Safety, Human Rights, WSIB, Employment Standards, Ergonomics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to exercise discretion with sensitive information.
- Ability to multitask and support multiple projects simultaneously.
