We are looking for a Support Group Coordinator in our Family Education and Support for Depression Program

Closing Date: May 20, 2024

Part-time Contract : Until March 31, 2025, 15 Hours per Week, Evening Hours and Weekends are required

Salary:  $27.75-$29.72 *To commensurate with experience

Location: The successful candidate will work from the Aurora Office located at 15150 Yonge Street, Suite 201
Aurora, Ontario, L4G 1M2 and travel for client visits, with regular travel in York Region.

Job Profile:

The Support Group Coordinator recruits, trains, and provides ongoing support for volunteers and coordinates Family Education/Support Group sessions as well as support for depression groups. This includes on-site group support as needed. This role ensures that volunteers are properly trained and scheduled to lead group sessions while coordinating member and presenter engagement in programs.

Duties:

Coordinates all Family Education and Support Groups and provides informal individual family support as required to active families and those on the waitlist Work collaboratively with manager and volunteer manager to identify volunteer opportunities and vacancies. Inform the volunteer job posting and participate in interview process Manages a range of administrative functions that include: receiving referrals, register clients on CRMS; maintains waitlist; contacts clients by email/phone’, creates registration forms and virtual links for groups Responds to questions sent by email and follows up with clients with information requested regarding program Coordinates and updates Family Education curriculum and resources on an ongoing basis according to participant’s feedback, best practices and direction from Director of Services Delivers program-specific training to volunteers Represents Family Caregivers and Education Program at internal and community events Addresses complaints and concerns from participants regarding program in collaboration with Manager Provides support to volunteers to de-escalate potential crisis situations (i.e., substance abuse, aggressive clients, suicide intervention) Report any incident to manager and submit an incident report as required As required attends any support group for problem-solving or education groups Coordinates volunteer work schedules Ensures volunteer hours are reported for inclusion into agency statistics Oversees the arrangement of venues for group sessions across multiple locations Oversees the arrangement of guest speakers including medical health providers for individual sessions as required Follows CMHA guideline and procedures when bringing external presenters. follow -up with presenters/speakers to provide feedback and obtain suggestions for improvement Ensures that program evaluation and feedback surveys are completed as required Review feedback and evaluations and share with facilitators to inform quality improvement and future planning Works collaboratively with director of services to identify program development and quality improvement initiatives Support the director of services in completing United Way reports for mid-term and final evaluation Organizing and facilitating regular check-ins and training for volunteers, providing regular feedback and opportunities for discussion

Requirements:

Post-secondary education is required Experience in volunteer/staff coordination Knowledge of mental health management principles Knowledge of issues families face in caring and supporting a person with mental illness Lived experience related to mental health is considered an asset Experience with group facilitation is considered an asset Bachelor’s Degree in Health or Social Services is considered an asset Experience working in a not-for-profit organization is considered an asset Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite Strong analytical and organization skills Strong process, detail, communication and customer service skills Excellent coaching and mentoring skills Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral Team player who fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation Excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to provide recommendations/solutions Additional language with excellent verbal, written and reading comprehension is preferred Language Skills: Ability to read, write and speak English fluently is required. Fluency in one of the languages of populations served is highly desired A valid Canadian Full G driver’s license, a minimum $1,000,000 third party liability insurance A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)

Working Conditions:  Works extensively with volunteers and client groups in a meeting room setting both internal to CMHA and in external community agencies. In addition, works in a standard office setting. Evening and weekend hours will be required regularly.
