**Reports to**:General Manager/Designate
**Qualifications**:
1. Retirement Management or equivalent knowledge with relevant experience.
2. Previous managerial experience in a retirement home setting, preferably a retirement home or
equivalent knowledge with relevant experience.
3. Empathy for and understanding of the needs of the elderly and/or mentally/physically disabled.
4. Ability to relate to all levels of staff, the residents and their families with a high degree of
patience, tolerance and confidentiality.
5. Initiative, good judgement and leadership abilities, supervisory capabilities.
6. Good communication skills; both oral and written. Good public relation skills.
7. Ability to develop and implement budgetary guidelines for all department.
1. Experience in developing and implementing sales and/or marketing plans, public and
community relations campaigns and special events.
2. Experience in developing and managing budgets.
3. Knowledge of and experience in the seniors’ market, public health sector and private health
sector.
4. Experience in event planning.
5. Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems.
8. Working knowledge of the following legislation:
i. The Employment Standards Act
ii. Residential Tenancies Act
iii. The Worker's Compensation Act
iv. Occupational Health and Safety Act
v. The Coroner's Act Labour Relations Act
vi. Retirement Homes Act
vii. The Public Health Act
**Physical Demands**:
1. Sitting for extended periods at a desk for computer/typing work
2. Standing for extended periods of time as required
3. Walking short distances and up/down staircases
4. Typing and/or use of a computer keyboard proficiently
5. Pulling/pushing/lifting to open and/or relocate binders, carts, etc. up to 10lbs
6. Reading/seeing documentation both in paper format and on a computer screen for extended
periods of time
7. Hearing differences in phone ring tones and/or in fire system horns or alerts for emergency
response purposes
8. Speaking/communicating in front of audiences and with individuals who may have impairments
and disabilities
**Responsibilities**:
1. Fostering the development of a quality culture that shapes the values, beliefs and actions of all
2. Oversee Maintenance & outside contractors
3. Administer, coordinate and direct all activities of the residence, including the management of
human, physical and financial resources.
4. Ensure the provision of high quality care for residents and resident satisfaction.
5. Maintain confidentiality of all financial, personnel and resident data.
6. Be knowledgeable of and practise residence's fire and safety programs
7. Manage residence in accordance with legislative requirements.
8. Provide leadership and motivation to the staff for the achievement of the residence's objectives.
9. Establish or facilitate new services with the approval of the Owner/Designate
10. Complete month-end accounting reports and submit to Owner/Support Office.
11. Represent the Owner at all meetings where required.
12. Negotiate and enter into contracts required for ordinary operations of business.
13. Liaise and consult with inspectors and professionals in relation to the operation of the
residence.
14. Undertake all other responsibilities delegated by the Owner/Designate
Working Closely with General Manager
1. Acting General Manger when General Manager unavailable.
2. Assistant General Manager is the General Managers second in command.
3. Administer, coordinate and direct all activities of the residence, including the management of
human, physical and financial resources.
4. Ensure the provision of high quality care for residents and resident satisfaction.
5. Maintain confidentiality of all financial, personnel and resident data.

prospects that become residents.
15. Keep updated and supervise the maintenance of a completed and current lead management
and prospect database that includes: prospects, community influencers, family influencers, etc.
16. Closely monitor the residence’s wait list to ensure vacancies to needs are promptly addressed
and prospects on the wait list are regularly communicated with.
