**Terms of Employment**: Full-time, Monday - Friday (9 am -5 pm)

**Location**: 155 Bermondsey Road, Toronto ON. Habitat GTA currently deploys a hybrid working environment with a mix of onsite (1-2 days per week) and at home.

We partner with working families in need of an affordable, safe and secure place to live and enable their family’s ability to thrive. We are a land developer, a home builder, a fundraiser, and a mortgage holder. In support of our homebuilding operations, Habitat GTA operates a retail home improvement store called Habitat ReStore, which sells donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials, with all proceeds helping us build more homes.

Habitat GTA is growing. We are an innovative, entrepreneurial social enterprise that has been increasing our capacity for impact each and every year. Together, we are building a better, more inclusive GTA for everyone.

**The Opportunity**

Overall, the Chief of Staff serves as a “CEO-extender”, off-loading tasks from the CEO so that CEO time can be maximized on priorities that only the CEO can perform. Specifically, the Chief of Staff will:

- Maximize the day-to-day effectiveness of the CEO and Executive team by ensuring the CEO office runs smoothly, executive meetings run smoothly, and that the right information is available to the right people at the right time.
- Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and drive strategic decisions/projects in support of the executive team and board
- Support continued organizational improvement through special projects including, but not limited to: process optimization, performance measurement; new strategic initiatives; and others.

This role is ideal for a talented, ambitious emerging leader tracking towards a career as a senior executive or CEO and looking to make a meaningful difference right now on one of the most pressing issues facing the GTA: the urgent need for more affordable housing solutions for growing numbers of young people and newcomers.

**Your Impact**

**_ Executive and Operational Leadership Team effectiveness_**
- Manage the Executive Team workplan and collaborate with the CEO, EA to the CEO and other members of the Executive Team in ensuring that meeting materials are developed and distributed in a timely manner.
- Serve as Executive Team liaison to the Operations Leadership Council (OLC) and support the Chair of OLC in maximizing its effectiveness
- Develop and build on relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations
- Support the planning and execution of key meetings including, executive team retreatsand the annual staff townhall.

**_CEO effectiveness_**
- Serve as a resource to the EA to the CEO in managing the CEOs calendar and all other aspects of the EA to the CEO role.
- Ensure the CEO is prepared for meetings and speaking opportunities by preparing background documents, PowerPoints, related material.
- Take the lead in collaborating with the CEO and others on writing deputations, white papers and other research documents that advance government decisions and public opinion with respect to housing policy
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to provide content and strategies to build the CEO’s external presence through social media, speaking engagement, blog posts and other means.
- Collaborate with the Fund Development team in maximizing the CEO’s effectiveness in secure and stewarding fundraising opportunities with a focus on transformational and major gifts.
- Attend Habitat for Humanity Canada meetings, other external meetings, consultations and other forums with the CEO or on behalf of the organization.
- Remain abreast of major policy developments and opportunities that need to be brought to the attention of the CEO, Board and senior executives.
- Act as a trusted confidant of the CEO.

**_Board Governance_**
- Work with the CEO and EA to the CEO to prepare for Board meetings, Board education sessions and the annual Board retreat.
- Collaborate with the EA to the CEO in supporting the Governance & Nominating Committee and all tasks associated with supporting good governance.
- Ensure Board policies are kept up-to-date and reviewed and approved at appropriate intervals.

**_Strategy, Business Planning, Performance_**
- Provide research and quantitative analysis on new opportunities, housing related issues, policy and government relations.
- Collaborate with the EVP, Operations, CFO, and CEO in supporting the annual business planning process and tracking of key performance indicators.
