Qualifications:
**Essential**:
- Management experience with post-secondary education in a social science-related field (e.g., Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, and Political Science), management, commerce, law or a related area. A combination of education, training and relevant work experience may be considered
- Proven leadership skills with experience successfully creating, fostering and maintaining diverse teams to achieve results through effective human resource management activities such as: recruitment, training and mentoring staff, performance management and/or labour relation management
- Experience providing leadership and direction in the design and implementation of legislation, policies and programs
- Demonstrated ability to leverage opportunities to find creative solutions to issues and successfully manage change
- Extensive experience working with legislative, legal and/or governance systems in a public sector environment
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with and present to all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders
- Superior written communication skills, including writing a variety of authority seeking documents for senior leadership
- Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues
- Experience translating strategic objectives into actionable steps to achieve departmental priorities

**Duties**:
As a member of the division’s management team, the Director is responsible to lead and manage the Legislation Office, and provide advice and support to the Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Minister and Executive Director.
The Office is accountable for the design and delivery of the legislative agenda for the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning, regulatory development and accountability, departmental leadership on issues related to education bargaining and labour relations, pensions, FIPPA and other legal matters that have constitutional or system-wide implications.
