Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post-Secondary education in business or social sciences or a diploma in public relations, marketing, management, or creative communications. A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Experience interpreting, clarifying or elaborating on legislation or policies to internal and external stakeholders or the public.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience creating written materials for senior officials.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with experience facilitating consultations and presenting at public events.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in research and analysis, including creating policy and procedure documents.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with experience working in a high-volume, fast paced environment with fluctuating deadlines and competing priorities.
- Experience creating documents that require strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to exercise discretion and political acumen.
- Experience publishing with different social media platforms and tools used for communication and/or engagement including Twitter, Facebook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe.
**Duties**:
Reporting to the Director, the Education and Outreach Officer is responsible for planning and developing content and materials on Manitoba’s consumer protection legislation and programs for consumers, businesses and other stakeholders. The content and materials, such as fact sheets, news releases, and content for the branch website and social media, may be general in nature or specific to an industry, product / service, or transaction type. As required, the incumbent will coordinate with other government offices to develop, procure, and publish branch materials. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and coordinating outreach activities such as presentations, facilitating consultations, as well as participation at events, such as trade shows.
