**Your opportunity**:
The Centre for Indigenous Studies at the University of Toronto fosters innovative, participatory research with urban Indigenous peoples and develops collaborations with Indigenous communities and organizations. Our program respects and promotes Indigenous knowledge, and develops a thorough understanding of Indigenous peoples’ languages, cultures, histories, politics, arts, intellectual traditions, and research methodologies. An important goal of our program is to provide an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students to learn and think about Indigenous knowledge in creative, transformative,and critical ways. We cultivate research regarding Indigenous pedagogy, methodologies, and epistemology, focusing on Indigenous peoples as cultural workers, social change agents, leaders, and thinkers.

The Business Officer oversees the Centre for Indiginous Studies's business and financial resources, budgeting and payroll, and facilities and space management. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of all aspects of the administration of the Department’s financial resources, including providing advice, guidance, and recommendations to the Chair on budget matters by allocating, forecasting, and planning, the department’s finances and assisting in the formulation of sound financial procedures and practices. The Business Officer will also be responsible for establishing administrative procedures and implementing best practices in the organization.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
- Analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision making
- Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
- Implementing plans and process improvements for financial administration activities
- Producing complex statistical and/or financialreports
- Processes payroll

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years of recent and related experience, in financial management experience, including forecasting, managing, analyzing, reconciling and reporting on operating budgets, research grants and restricted funds
- Experience administering policies, procedures and collective agreements; and knowledgeof U of T policies and procedures or other similar policies
- Experience with maintaining all financial and personnel records, and reconciling monthlyfinancial activity and payroll distribution.
- Experience working with procurement services, office planning and space issues
- Strong knowledge of HRIS and FIS and/or other related financial and payroll system
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and working with databases
- Knowledge of Indiginous issues and/or Indiginous communities.
