  • Design, organize and present complete course syllabus in accordance with the calendar description as approved by the CHAIR OF DEPARTMENT and the Office of the Dean of Arts and Science
  • Review and be knowledgeable of Trent Online learning policies regarding course migration, course release to students, remote and onsite exam proctoring
  • Ensure the course is ready for release to students including approved syllabus no later than 5 days prior to the start of the term.
  • Deliver and facilitate course online, updating existing online course materials as necessary
  • Assign and grade student work within the established timeline
  • Invigilate exams in person on the Durham Campus or Peterborough campus for students not using remote proctoring service
  • Mark and grade student work and calculate all final marks for enrolled students
  • Maintain 1 or more office hours per week for student consultation outside of scheduled class time
  • Grade breakdowns (with student info, assignment type, weighting, and grade clearly indicated) must be returned to the office by the grade submission deadline
  • Exams must be returned to the department office once grading is complete
  • Formal appealable work must be retained in accordance with appeals regulations (allowing time for RO to process appeal and forward to dept.), and instructor must have active contact info on file for that period
  • Fulfilling any other duties associated with managing the course, such as submitting exam copies to CAT if required.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Indigenous Studies with a focus on history, politics and current events, or equivalent in Indigenous knowledge and related
  • experience is required. Teaching in multi-cultural context is an experiential requirement. Indigenous Knowledge and related cultural knowledge is necessary. Familiarity with development and delivery of online courses.
