Who we need:
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Manager, Accounting Systems & Internal Control is responsible for leading the development, design, implementation and maintenance of robust financial systems and internal control processes within the organization. This position ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial data, streamlines financial processes, and contributes to the organization's overall financial efficiency and risk management. What you will do:

- Oversee the configuration and customization of accounting systems to optimize financial reporting and analysis.
- Play a lead role in the development of the overall finance systems strategy, ensuring technology platforms, finance systems and data are developed and maintained to support the business in its strategic objectives
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance efficiency and utilization of current systems
- Lead cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, automation, and standardization of financial workflows.
- Collaborate with internal IT partners to plan, design, coordinate and deliver on ERP and Finance owned systems to optimize operational activities within Finance, FP&A and other business unit functions based on business needs and requirements related to accounting systems and controls. Focus on process adoption, integration of new capabilities with ways of working, and drive associated systems usage.
- Develop and manage finance policies, procedures, and process documentation to ensure effective and efficient Finance operations, internal control and data management
- Oversee the accuracy and integrity of financial data in the financial systems and establish data validation protocols and reconciliation procedures to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Assume the role SME for Finance ERP systems to help train the finance team and act as a first point of contact for issues or systems related questions
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive internal control framework to safeguard the organization's assets, ensure accurate financial reporting, and prevent fraud
- Implement/co-ordinate an internal control testing and monitoring program with communication to the finance leadership team to present insights and recommendations for improvement
- Perform audits and internal control reviews to ensure the stability, security, and integrity of finance systems and operations
- Lead change management and transition of projects to business-as-usual activities
- Act as a brand ambassador for the staff and faculty and promoting a positive corporate culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness and our core values

What you bring:

- 8+ years of experience in Finance IT, internal controls, or related roles, with a strong understanding of financial systems; minimum 2 years experience leading this work
- Experience in management consulting, operations, operational internal auditing and/or external audit/advisory (Big 4 firms experience is an asset)
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; CPA, MBA, CIA, PMP or similar designation is a strong asset
