CMHA Alberta and Centre for Suicide Prevention began operations September 1, 2024. Prior to amalgamation CMHA Alberta and CSP shared a common goal and for many years worked in parallel and by coming together our organizations can build a broader network of partners, leverage donor and funder investment and reduce operational duplication. Our organization focuses on community mental health care, emphasizing education, training, advocacy, peer and family support, and crisis response in addition to suicide prevention.
**About the Initiative**:
CMHA’s Rural Mental Health Project strives to strengthen community capacity for better mental health in over 150 rural and remote communities through ongoing training, network development, and community grants.
The Rural Mental Health project (RMHP) and network are being built collaboratively with strategic local and provincial partners. The principles that guide our work include health promotion, community-development, strength-based, using whole-community approaches, while considering the full lifespan development of our communities.
**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a passionate Evaluation Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Rural Mental Health Lead, this role involves supporting the Rural Mental Health Project by coordinating evaluation processes and building capacity within rural Alberta. You will be responsible for developing strong community partnerships, supporting qualitative research, and translating knowledge to various audiences.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate evaluation processes for project activities, including grants, training, and workshops.
- Collaborate with external evaluators to align evaluation processes with rural community contexts and capacity, grant delivery, and funder requirements to achieve a collective impact story.
- Work with external evaluators to develop and refine data collection tools and align them with the Evaluation Framework.
- Support community grant applicants with local evaluation strategies, resources and capacity building to ensure effective grant reporting and reduce the burden on rural communities.
- Lead capacity-building workshops and evaluate events hosted for network members.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange events and contribute to network communications including evaluation and community impact outcomes using methods that are appropriate to the audience.
- Summarize data to share back key findings and themes and assist in report management for grantees and RMH Funder, informed by external evaluation outcomes.
- Active participation in team meetings, events and contributions to all forms of Network communications.
- Other duties as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience supporting community-based research or evaluation, including analysis and synthesis of data.
- Experience working in a community-based setting, understanding different contexts and sharing information using methods appropriate to the audience.
- Ability to be self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment of frequent change and within an ambiguous landscape.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and other online tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Public Health, Sociology); or a combination of education and recent and relevant experience.
