Measurement & Evaluation Specialist

**Description**
The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program at the Cumming School of Medicine is dedicated to training highly competent Physician Assistants capable of delivering high-quality healthcare in diverse clinical environments. Located at the Foothills campus, the program admits 20 students each admissions cycle into its rigorous two-year clinical training curriculum.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Under the guidance and direction of the Assistant Director, Education Scholarship, design, implement, and manage various projects to assess the effectiveness and impact of the MPAS program such as program evaluation, research, quality assurance, and quality improvement
- Collect, analyze, and interpret both quantitative and qualitative data related to program outcomes, student performance, and curriculum effectiveness
- Develop and utilize various tools and methodologies for data collection, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observational studies
- Coordinate education research, including study design, obtaining ethics approvals, data collection, data analysis, and disseminating results through reports, presentations, and publications
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) principles into program evaluation and improvement activities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current best practices and advancements in program evaluation, measurement, and educational research, as well as University policies and procedures for data collection
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for various stakeholders, including faculty, administration, and external partners
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and effective completion of tasks
- Provide expertise and support in the use of software tools for data analysis and reporting, including MS Suite, Qualtrics, SPSS, NVivo, and MAXQDA
- Oversee and lead the development of educational programming for Indigenous health programs
- Research, collect, and interpret data for the purpose of advancing a professional/clinical training program, using data visualization strategies for effective knowledge translation
- Manage project finances, ensuring costs and expenses are within budget
- Identify areas of improvement in operational and functional practices within the department
- Demonstrate exemplary communication, team, and interpersonal skills, exercising judgment and taking initiative to problem-solve with the team, community members, and other collaborators
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- A Master's degree or higher in Measurement, Evaluation, Data Science, Statistics, Health Professions Education, or a related discipline
- At least 2-4 years of experience conducting independent research or robust program evaluation, including study design, ethics, data collection, data analysis, and dissemination of results
- Ability to ensure research and evaluation activities are conducted in compliance with institutional policies, operating procedures, and public legislation. Experience and familiarity with University of Calgary policies and operating standards is an asset
- Proficiency with various tools and software for research and evaluation, including Qualtrics, SPSS or R, NVivo and/or MAXQDA
- Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, working both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for professional and academic audiences Ability to stay up-to-date with technology to adopt new tools and software to augment work efficiency and effectiveness
