**Position Description**:
Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association is a vibrant, inclusive community centre offering community-based programming, childcare, sports and recreation facilities, and private hall rentals for business functions and special events.

Community Connections is made up of a number of programs founded in an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to increase positive social ties, develop networks of support, and create engagement opportunities for community members who are at risk of social isolation. These include Neighbour Night (participant-driven peer support program), neighbour to neighbour peer supports (primarily focused on providing supports to seniors), Sip n’ Chat (weekly low-barrier/commitment opportunity to socialize), and volunteer opportunities. Community Connections is delivered primarily by the Community Connections Coordinator and the Seniors Connections Coordinator.

The Community Connections Coordinator is fully responsible for facilitating programs including Neighbour Night and Sip n’ Chat, and supporting other community-based programs. The Community Connections Coordinator works collaboratively with program participants and volunteers to shape the delivery of programs with a focus on offering programs that are inclusive, welcoming, safe and relevant for the people involved.

**Responsibilities**:

- **_Program Delivery_**
- Facilitate participant-driven peer support programs based in ABCD principles
- Build safe and inclusive space for participants
- Cultivate communication, leadership, and engagement amongst program participants and volunteers
- Support and strengthen other Community Connections programs as necessary, including

the successful delivery of the Tax Clinic and Holiday Matching Program
- Participate in the review of existing programs, and development of new programs as required
- Coordinate the preparation of meals for community programs, with volunteer support
- **_Volunteer and Practicum Coordination_**
- Recruit, coordinate and supervise a team of volunteers and interns
- Maintain a thorough and organized volunteer database
- Onboard and train volunteers, interns and practicum students
- Support volunteer coordination across the HSCA- Program Evaluation
- Maintain thorough and organized records of program data
- Adhere to reporting timelines and expectations of funders and other internal and

external stakeholders

- Create program promotion materials consistent with HSCA’s brand
- Communicate effectively, clearly and consistently with participants, community members, partners, volunteers and colleagues

- Supervise Social Work Students through post-secondary practicum programs
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with participants, community members, partners, volunteers and colleagues

- Work in partnership with Community Programs team members to support community members in building connections
- Other duties as assigned, including cross-training to support other program coordinators
