**About Halifax PLAYS**:The Halifax Players’ League for Affordable Yearly Sports (PLAYS) is an NGO started in 2012, that is dedicated to making sports, physical health and fitness opportunities affordable and accessible for all.

Our organization has served over 4,200+ players over eight years, adult and youth, and has played a key part in developing the physical health capacity of Halifax, running 180+ recreation programs in 12+ different sports over the last decade. **About the Position**:Our next program coordinator will have an interest in sports, recreation, and the broader community development field, especially in the context of working with non-profit or volunteer-run organizations. They will wear many hats (some responsibilities listed below), but their job broadly will be to help Halifax PLAYS and its volunteers in the management of their programs. The youth hire will not be directly running any sports themselves, but rather serve as a key operational resource for those that do.

**Responsibilities**:

- Advising/ working with the board to identify opportunities for optimizing our back-end infrastructure, such as to develop more efficient systems for communications, registrations and payments
- Taking lead on our marketing, especially to deliver campaigns on Mailjet, keep updated our website and increase our social media presence on platforms like Instagram, Facebook and other social media
- Working directly with volunteer sport organizers to provide them with trainings and relevant resources (equipment etc.) that can help in their administration of sports programs
- Helping with the accounting side for Halifax PLAYS, especially as it relates to doing reconciliations, exploring grant/ funding opportunities, and developing longer-term financial protocols
- Exploring new ways for Halifax PLAYS to fulfill its mission of accessing untapped sports or recreation opportunities
- Planning events or opportunities that bring together our volunteer community, such as appreciation lunches/dinners or preparing for our Annual General Meeting (likely to be held end of July)
- And assisting with a variety of other tasks, like marketing, monitoring and evaluation, website design, customer service, research, and/ or partnership development (dependent on person needs/ interests)

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Pursuing degree(s) in business, community development, kinesiology, sports management or a similar field
- Able to work alone and in a team, with strong interpersonal communication abilities
- Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn and open to sharing new ideas to improve the organization
- Interest in sports, previous experience with non-profits, and a driver’s license are all assets

**Rate of Pay**:$15 per hour, for 35 hours per week

**Dates**:Start on July 10th, for 8 weeks (To finish September 1, 2023)

**Work Location**:Virtual, Work from Home (Halifax)

**Job Types**: Seasonal, Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 8 weeks

**Salary**: From $15.00 per hour
