Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) is the Government of Alberta’s full-service communications, public relations and marketing department. Its mandate is to enhance communications between Albertans and the Government of Alberta.

CPE’s expert staff provide specialized services across the spectrum of communications including writing, social media, media relations, event coordination, issues management, crisis communications, digital communications, advertising, marketing, graphic design, public engagement and translation services.

**Role Responsibilities**:
As the communications advisor, strategic projects, you will manage large-scale and significant communications and marketing projects for multi-ministry collaborations requiring a cross-section of internal experts and external vendor products and services. You will coordinate project tasks and deliverables related to complex initiatives, organize and communicate all the details of projects, track assignments, and serve as a senior liaison between the client and service providers. You’ll be responsible for ensuring large-scale communications and marketing projects are completed on time, within budget, scope and to the highest standards. Your project management expertise means you are able to advise on best practices, tools, and opportunities for continuous improvement for this project management function.

Using your excellent project management and problem-solving abilities, you will provide project coordination, but your responsibilities will also include:

- Developing and implementing project plans and accountability frameworks for high priority and multi-ministry files to ensure efforts and resources are centralized and coordinated. This requires a comprehensive tracking schedule of work outputs and advising on project strategy to help support client goals.
- Assessing and identifying potential risks that could impact the project's success and formulating mitigation strategies.
- Proactively monitoring, assessing, and reporting on the daily progress of projects, including flagging any significant developments, changes or risks.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in a related field to the position, ideally with project management, communications/public relations or systems/business analysis focus, supplemented by 4 years progressively responsible experience.

**Equivalencies**: Considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

**Assets**:

- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Proven knowledge and experience in project management tools and methodologies
- Extensive knowledge of marketing and communications planning, implementation, and measurement
- Strong leadership, agility, strategic thinking, issues management and communications skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams
- Strong political acumen
