As part of the High Level Office for Reconciliation and Anti-Racism (HLO), the Strategic Project Advisor leads complex and multi-disciplinary projects and is responsible for implementing corporate-wide strategies and initiatives by building and maintaining strong relationships across the corporation. The Strategic Project Advisor will report directly to the Senior Executive Advisor of Anti-Racism and Intersectionality and work closely with the Chief of Staff and Corporate Lead for Anti-Racism and Reconciliation on priority projects within the anti-racism portfolio

With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to be Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated, and Excellent you will:
- Oversee complex and politically sensitive project work with the support of the High Level Office staff and others across the corporation
- Identify and map key stakeholders of each project to ensure that all voices are heard as part of project development and implementation; act as a corporate leader for “nothing about us, without us.”
- Communicate clearly (written, verbal and presentation), about project management plans, milestones, resources requirements, processes, outcomes and any recommendations
- Research emerging trends and provide research/analytical support for corporate-wide projects. Including preparing charts, graphs, technical presentations of data and summarizing using standardized tools and methods
- Assess, evaluate, and integrate best practices in business process improvement, strategic alignment, strategic planning and evidence-based practices
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the corporation and with key community partners and stakeholders as required for project implementation. This may include community members, community leaders, non-profit organization leaders and staff, and cross-corporate colleagues
- Represent the City of Edmonton, the High Level Office, and the City Manager’s Office when meeting and interacting with community
**Qualifications**:
- University graduate (a Masters is considered an asset) in Social Sciences, Political Science, Indigenous Studies, Business or Public Administration
- A minimum of 7 years professional experience which includes demonstrated competency in project management and strategic planning
- A minimum of 5 years experience in community/social development (in particular work with equity-deserving communities and non-profits/organizations, leaders, community, and government) in the field of equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism
- Demonstrated understanding or lived/living experience with diverse communities in Edmonton
- Significant understanding of Indigenous and Ethnocultural communities within Canada, their history, culture and current environment. Personal value base compatible with diversity and inclusion principles, GBA+, and human rights advocacy
- Knowledge of UNDRIP, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls for Justice
- Strong organization, time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent communications, presentation and facilitation skills are required
- Responding to and prioritizing competing needs and priorities with a great deal of political acumen
- Strong research and problem solving skills to gather required information, make decisions and develop recommendations
- Able to take an intersectional approach across the branch/corporation; big picture & strategic thinking

**Hours of Work**: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
