**Salary**: $2,626.89 - $3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68,561 to $90,011/year)

The **Trade, Investment and Food Safety Division** expands and diversifies Alberta’s food and bio-product manufacturing sector in local and global markets while also providing effective food safety assurance systems.

The **Export and Investment Branch** focuses on attracting investment to Alberta’s agri-processing sectors and expanding export opportunities for Alberta’s businesses. The Branch also designs and delivers Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership funding programs related to growth and value-added development and provides performance measurement and program evaluation services for the Division.

The **Export Development and Industry Grants Section** is responsible for export development, including oversight of in-market agriculture activities through Alberta International Offices, delivery of grant programs under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership to support Alberta’s value-added sector, and delivery of the Agri-processing Investment Tax Credit.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Alberta's government sees agriculture as a key economic driver for growth in Alberta. To successfully grow the agriculture industry in Alberta, Alberta's government offers a range of services and programs to support the growth of Alberta’s agricultural exports, with the goal of promoting Alberta as a reliable source of high-quality agriculture and food products.

Reporting to the Export Development Manager, the International Initiatives Officer will play a critical role in supporting Alberta companies enter international markets by assessing companies’ capacity, conducting targeted industry outreach, developing marketing materials to promote Alberta’s agri-food products internationally, and implement export preparedness initiatives.

As part of the dynamic and exciting Export Development team, the International Initiatives Officer will:

- Provide strategic supports to company clients intended to enhance Alberta’s agriculture and agri-food industry’s export capability and knowledge
- Support efforts to promote Alberta’s agricultural capabilities and grow brand awareness internationally
- Grow a strong network of clients, partners and stakeholders to maintain broad awareness of industry needs, program offerings from partners, and identify opportunities to collaborate
- Create marketing and communications tools for use within the Branch and in the Alberta International Offices

The International Initiatives Officer is a critical role within the Export Development Unit and works closely with Senior Trade Development Officers, agriculture-dedicated staff in the network of Alberta International Officers, partner organizations, and Alberta agri-food companies. The role drives the team’s communication of market information, gathers essential market intelligence, and directly supports companies working to become export ready.

**Qualifications**:

- **University Degree **in a field related preferably in international business, marketing, finance, business development, political science or other related degree.
- **Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience is required.**

**_Equivalencies _**maybe considered - directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Preference will be given to those with knowledge and experience related to international trade, marketing, and Alberta’s agricultural capabilities.
