**Working for Finance, Procurement and Planning**

Finance, Procurement and Planning is responsible for financial reporting, resource planning, procurement, investments & treasury, and risk management & insurance. We have a team of service partners who work closely with the faculties, units and staff across the institution to provide excellent client service.

**Position**

Reporting to Associate Vice President, Finance Procurement and Planning, the Strategic Initiatives Officer (SIO) is a key member of the Finance Procurement and Planning Leadership team, who plans, monitors, and manages specific initiatives and projects. The SIO manages these projects from initiation through to completion, including the prioritization of multiple complex initiatives with varying completion dates. The SIO contributes to the establishment of FPP’s strategic priorities and budget, leads projects, manages emerging issues, conducts research, writes reports, coordinates FPP communications and represents the unit at key institutional meetings.

**Duties**
- Manages FPP/university-wide level projects and initiatives as assigned by FPP leaders. Leads complex, specialized project work on behalf of FPP.
- Responds to major changes/ issues currently affecting or potentially affecting the university.
- Develops new projects/ work assignments required due to current or future directions.
- Reviews FPP strategic priorities to determine if initiatives/projects are in alignment with FPP and the University’s Strategic Plan.
- Provides clear and understandable advice and recommendations based on experience and knowledge to support informed decision-making by leaders.
- Uses compelling and well-researched arguments to convey recommendations, possible solutions, and new ideas.

**Qualifications**
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related area.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience where a significant portion of the duties involved managing projects/initiatives.
- Exceptional business writing and editing skills, and research skills.
- Superior analytical reasoning and organization skills.
- Sound judgment and experience dealing with confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, be flexible, and to multitask.
- Proven teamwork and leadership skills.
