Western Continuing Studies (WCS) is the educational bridge between Western University and the global community serving learners from London and Southwestern Ontario to Québec and beyond. Through innovative leadership in lifelong learning, WCS creates and delivers responsive and accessible programs, including non-credit and credit courses in Professional Development, Post-degree Diplomas, French Immersion, Personal Interest and Corporate Learning and personal interest and corporate learning (>280 courses). By offering courses, certificates, diplomas and experiential learning in partnerships with faculties, business organizations, professional associations and communities, the unit serves over 2,700 students annually, including recent graduates, job seekers, employees, Western alumni, corporate clients, senior citizens and international students.

**Responsibilities**:
The Communications Coordinator will coordinate marketing and communications for Western Continuing Studies, with an overall goal of improving internal efficiencies, increasing marketing research and engagement and building and promoting Western's brand and reputation locally, nationally, and internationally. This role will support the implementation of strategic communication plans and related projects, with a focus on positioning Western Continuing Studies as one of Canada's leading continuing education providers. The Communications Coordinator will assist with planning, implementing and executing marketing and communications strategies for four program areas, including Public Interest, Post-Degree Diplomas, French Immersion, and Academic Partnerships. The role will protect, promote, and enhance the reputation of the University and its people by delivering creative, concise, accurate information that is consistent with all of Western's applicable guidelines.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- 3-year college diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field
- Experience:
- 2 years' experience in communications and/or marketing, with an emphasis on digital communications
- Experience in a post-secondary environment preferred
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with e-communication tools including website and graphic design principles and with social media platforms
- Knowledge of theory and best practices in media relations and public affairs and with marketing trends and best practices
- Familiarity with principles of writing, including grammar and style, argument, and coherence
- Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity
- Communication skills to engage audiences, with confidence interacting with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
- Discretion, tact and maturity to deal with public relations issues related to higher education
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Interpersonal skills to liaise with prospective and current students, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community
- Ability and propensity to use judgment and re-evaluate decisions when presented with new information
- Multi-tasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce high-quality work within deadlines
- Proven ability to build both formal and informal professional relationships within, across, and external to organizational boundaries
- Team player with the ability to work collaboratively and actively contribute in meetings and in team settings
