**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Fan & Stakeholder Engagement, the Coordinator is responsible for the leading the growth, planning, delivery, financial management and assessment of safe sustainable, supportive and innovative children and youth programming (i.e. camps, school sports days, holiday programs, community engagement initiatives) offered by Western Sport & Recreation to the campus and greater London community. The role will also lead current and new community engagement efforts by building internal and external relationships, developing and instituting programs that increase awareness, engagement, and support for Western Sport & Recreation programs (e.g. student-athlete school visits, community minor sports programs, such as Junior Mustangs programming, and new innovative revenue generating initiatives).

Note that flexible work hours, including frequent evenings and weekends according to program or area needs will be required. This position will require the Coordinator, Youth Programs and Community Engagement to be present during key activity periods and dates (May-August, March Break, PA Days).

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Undergraduate Degree in Kinesiology, Recreation, Sport Management, Business/Commerce or Education
- Courses in principles in healthy child development (in the 4-17 demographic) preferred
- National coaching certification or recreation leadership training (e.g., High Five, Fundamental Movement Skills or other Sport for Life program certifications) considered an asset
- Experience:
- 5 years’ experience coordinating children and youth programs and delivery of camps
- Supervisory experience, including experience working with and coordinating a casual student and volunteer workforce
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of activity-related health and safety regulations
- In-depth knowledge of program and curriculum development practices
- Strong understanding of how sports and athletics impact the student experience and the role physical activity, sport and recreation have in healthy communities
- Standard first aid and CPR-C certification
- Advocates the core values of integrity, inclusivity, accountability, collaboration, and service
- Demonstrates commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment where there is mutual respect and collaboration across all teams
- Strong interpersonal skills, creative-thinking and the ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation and listening skills
- Service-orientated and capable of dealing with a wide variety of constituents, determining most appropriate action when dealing with a wide range of customer service issues
- Ability to exercise discretion, good judgment, and solid decision-making with a thorough knowledge of emergency preparedness and procedures, including the ability to recognize and respond swiftly to dangerous health and safety situations and address immediately
- Experience training, supervising and leading casual/student staff and volunteers
- Analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills
- Organizational skills and time management abilities are essential
- Valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s licence preferred
