Fleming and Baron (an ASSA ABLOY company) is looking to add a Human Resources Manager (covering a maternity leave) to our team based in Woodbridge, Ontario.

ASSA ABLOY is a global leader in opening access solutions. Our Group focuses on the manufacturing of steel doors and frames within the commercial market catering to such industries as hospitality, healthcare, aerospace and defense, sports stadiums and educational markets.

**What would you do as our Human Resources Manager?**

As the Human Resources Manager, you’re responsible for performing all human resource functions in our unionized manufacturing facility by providing primary services such as employee and labour relations, coaching and counselling, training and development, recruitment, and health and safety. To be successful in this role, you must be comfortable working within a manufacturing plant location and managing the front line regarding all HR matters.

**You will also**:

- Advise and consult with managers and employees on the interpretation and administration of human resources and collective agreement policies and procedures to resolve a variety of human resource issues, promote a better understanding of human resources practices, and ensure compliance
- Investigate and address employee concerns, issues, and grievances
- Lead workplace investigations, present findings, and recommendations; lead complaint resolution and decision-making
- Review current policies and ensure they support organizational objectives; create and research new policies, gain approval from senior management; communicate, train, and implement policies to the appropriate employee groups
- Create professional internal communications to ensure employees and managers are apprised of changes, programs, milestones, etc. on an ongoing basis; ensure that All Employee Communication meetings are held routinely, and the content is aligned with the business assessment
- Continually assess training needs; develop/coordinate training programs in conjunction with managers; track and report on training initiatives
- Work with hiring managers and lead the full-cycle recruitment process (including developing job descriptions and posting, conducting interviews), through to the offer and onboarding stage, track, and report monthly
- Oversee WSIB, STD and LTD claims and other programs to ensure timely return to work
- Provide Leadership to the JHSC including coordinating meetings, performing workplace inspections and hazard assessment, track, and report monthly
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including maintaining various human resources records and data; preparing accurate and detailed reports on a routine basis; audit training and compliance records
- Provide payroll backup; assist Payroll & Benefit Specialist to gather information for payroll processing; be first point of contact for employees to address payroll issues
- Assist with various projects as assigned by the Vice President, Human Resources and Safety
- Abide by, support, and ensure compliance with all pertinent Canadian laws including, but not limited to the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Relations Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
- Consistently supports and promotes a safe and harmonious working environment.
- Other duties as assigned

**The Skills and Experience you need**:

- Minimum of 7 years of experience as Human Resources Generalist
- A University Degree in a related field
- CHRP/CHRL designation or actively working towards the designation
- JHSC certification is an asset
- Experience with a unionized workforce in a manufacturing environment required
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, self-manage projects, and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions
- Possess a continuous improvement mindset; Six Sigma or Lean exposure an asset
- Tech savvy; MS Excel and a confident HRIS systems user; experience at implementing technology to create efficiencies
- Ability to exercise good judgement in various conflict and high stress situations
- Excellent skills in influencing, collaborating, and leading
- Proficient in verbal and written communications
