**Summary**:
Provides trauma and settlement informed, one on one and group support to eligible IRCC clients and families on coping with change, mental health, and well-being promotion. Refers clients at risk due to challenges pertaining to their pre-migration and settlement experience. Provides short-term and/or transitional para-counselling for settlement clients in crisis including settlement case managed clients. Delivers coping with change and well-being orientation in groups, family, or individuals to all newly arrived Government Assisted Refugees (GARs) in conjunction with the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) Team.

**Reporting to**: MAP - Manager

**Responsibilities**:

- Conducts mental health and well-being needs assessment and plans based on outcomes; helps eligible clients’ meet their settlement plan goals.
- Establishes a settlement crisis support plan for clients requiring lower levels of mental health support in conjunction with RAP and settlement case managers.
- Delivers orientation/ information sessions to all newly arrived GARs on an individual, family or group basis on coping with change and well-being techniques in a settlement context in conjunction with the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) team.
- Makes referrals to other mental health and wellness resources and services.
- Provides non-clinical crisis counselling support to eligible clients.
- Provides clients with information on community resources and how to access mental health services and programs in the community.
- Provides para-professional counselling on a short-term or transitional basis to clients in crisis.
- Develops and delivers mental health and well-being workshops/peer support groups to multi-barrier clients with a priority on active clients within the Moving Ahead Program.
- Participates in approved sectoral and community networks as required.
- Performs other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Skills and Abilities**:

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral English.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with clientele, staff, and the public from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, organizing, and facilitating workshops.
- Ability to set and maintain boundaries with clients and manage self-care.
- Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Service-oriented with a demonstrated willingness to help the department and the organization achieve desired objectives and targets.
- Conducts a needs assessment on each client admitted into the case management stream. Assists clients in setting goals/priorities and developing a realistic action plan(s) which may include: one-to-on and/or personalized family support, settlement information, individual and group workshops, practical assistance and supported access to services. Provides ongoing monitoring of action plan(s).
- Possession of and the ability to maintain a clear provincial criminal record check.
- Ability to carry out the duties of the position.
