**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Neonatal Hemodynamics Research Program, under the Department of Paediatrics, is dedicated to improving clinical care and reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease in preterm neonates. A leader in the field of neonatal echocardiography, the primary goals of the program are to enable enhanced diagnostic precision to improve clinical decision making and to identify best practices in newborn intensive care to achieve better cardiorespiratory outcomes for these fragile infants. The program also encompasses research in neuro
- hemodynamics and acute and chronic respiratory illnesses in preterm infants.
- Perform initial screening of patients via charts and electronic medical records to determine eligibility for participation in clinical trials and prospective observational studies
- Recruit and obtain consent from parents in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for their newborns’ participation
- Organize study procedures by liaising with clinical teams for imaging, laboratory work and pharmacy orders
- Collect and enter data from electronic medical records and paper charts into electronic study databases and assist with the preparation of data and summary tables and reports
- Maintain study logs and research ethics board submissions (ensuring documentation meets all regulatory requirements)
- Ensure strict compliance with the study protocols and applicable standard operating procedures
- Maintain regular and strong communication with research team members and NICU clinical staff
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative for all projects within the research team’s portfolio. The incumbent may be assigned other duties as directed by the supervising investigator or research program coordinator

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**

**Degree**: Bachelor’s degree _(in a relevant field)_

**Discipline(s)**: Health sciences, medical sciences, life sciences or physiology

**Required skills and experience**:

- Minimum of 2 years of previous experience and demonstrated success with clinical research and patient recruitment in an academic research environment
- Familiarity with research processes including data collection and data entry
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with interdisciplinary research teams
- Excellent coordination, time management, and organization skills and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive data and information; maintaining professionalism, diplomacy, and tact in high pressure situations
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to details and proven ability to learn new skills
- Skilled in the use of computerized systems, equipment and databases

**Additional assets**:

- Familiarity with and/or interest in neonatology
- Research experience in the neonatal intensive care unit
- Experience with echocardiography or hemodynamics related data
