Researchers at the MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions (MAP) are seeking an enthusiastic and highly qualified applicant for the full time (temporary) position of Research Assistant II to fill a new position. MAP seeks to improve health in cities, especially for those experiencing marginalization, and to reduce barriers to accessing factors essential to health.

The successful applicant will provide administrative support and research coordination on a range of community-based research studies related to drug policy, harm reduction and working with people experiencing multiple forms of marginalization. Working with a team of staff and scientists, the research assistant will be responsible for research activities and data analyses under the direction of community members, study investigators and senior research staff. The research assistant will have a strong commitment to social justice, health equity, including working closely with people from the community and avoiding actions that contribute to stigmatization and discrimination.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide essential assistance, organizational and administrative support to several research projects.
- Assist in preparing research ethics submissions relative to the initiation of and conduct of individual studies, including consent forms written at an appropriate literacy level.
- Lead and assist with study operations, including meeting planning, study correspondence, data management.
- Liaise with community partners, including service providers and people who use drugs.
- Record minutes of study meetings, where needed.
- Prepare and process study finances including research study participant reimbursement.
- Support researchers with lived experience, including training and reimbursement.
- Manage study data, ensuring secure handling and storage.
- Assist with qualitative analysis.
- Perform literature reviews.
- Assist with manuscript preparation, including managing references, and coordination of submissions.
- Preparation of presentations and posters related to the study.
- Provide day to day guidance to students and junior researchers.
- Coordination of within-grant and end-of-grant knowledge translation activities, including: planning of dissemination events; preparing, attending, and taking minutes at meetings with key stakeholders and decision makers; and managing study correspondence.
- Other assigned duties, as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor of Science in a health-related discipline or demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
- Experience working with communities, including people who experience multiple forms of marginalization.
- Strong computer skills.
- An aptitude for accuracy, detail and problem-solving.
- Good personal and program time/detail management skills.
- Experience with qualitative research and data analysis is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently with strong. interpersonal skills and a high level of self-direction.
- Exceptional organizational and coordination skills, including the ability to set priorities, monitor progress towards goals, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and achieve results within clearly specified timelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to learn new skills and software quickly.
