**Manager, Museums**
**-**
**Global Program Curation,** you’ll play a vital role within this team by providing strategic leadership, expertise and oversight of the City's museum facilities and working closely with the Section’s management team to support the visitor experience, operations, programming, capital planning and the curatorial development of these museums. Your collective goal will be to ensure that key divisional priorities are met and that multiple voices are represented in the sharing of the stories arising from the programming at these sites.

Reporting to the Director, Museums & Heritage Services, you’ll plan annual work programs, and develop revenue-generating programs (grants, sponsorship, fees), overseeing and monitoring the annual budget for the Unit, and ensuring that all expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations. You'll ensure that the Unit's program objectives are met by providing leadership and oversight to Todmorden Mills Museum and Art Centre, Spadina Museum Historic House and Gardens, Mackenzie House, Colborne Lodge, Gibson House Museum, Zion Schoolhouse, Montgomery's Inn, and Scarborough Historical Museum historic sites. Innovative, adaptable, and creative, you’re well equipped to meet the changing needs of industries and customers served, as well as emerging directions.

A savvy multi-tasker with excellent organizational and time management skills, adept at managing a workload with competing demands and deadlines, you’ll manage the day-to-day visitor experience on the 10 sites, which are stewarded by a diverse team of professional and/or support staff, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, and high standards of work quality and organizational performance. At the same time, you’ll take an active role in creating an environment of continuous learning, innovation, collaboration, transparency, accountability, and trust.

Your political acumen and understanding of public relations and partnership building will be evident as you identify and manage divisional and other public and private sector stakeholders, manage risks and emerging issues, and negotiate delivery throughout the project lifecycle, while ensuring that resolutions are implemented in a timely manner.

A skilled critical thinker and problem-solver, able to evaluate and monitor museum operations and programs to ensure that Standards for Community Museums in Ontario are met, you’ll make recommendations to divisional senior management regarding service optimization, technology system modernization plans and strategies for sustainment and continual enhancement, to provide an excellent visitor experience and engagement for museums. We'll also rely on you to ensure that the museums operate in accordance with nationally and internationally accredited museum standards and practices.

Your written and verbal communication skills are excellent, enabling you to prepare briefing notes, reports, and business cases, as required by the size and complexity of the program/project, for reporting, and budget approvals. You're equally equipped to represent the City on major cultural projects of national and international scope involving other government partners and the cultural sector and ensure that it is aware of activities and trends in other jurisdictions and is contributing to national and international cultural development. Continually looking to the future, you’ll also ensure currency with City and divisional priorities and objectives, as well as relevant business practice directions, and assess new legislation for its business, financial, human resource, and information technology impact on the Division and/or the City.
