**Salary Range**: Band 5 - 69,264.00 - 82,600.00
**Location**: Communications & Engagement Department
J. W. Singleton Education Centre
**Work Schedule**: 35 hours/week, 12 months/year
**Effective Date**: July 2, 2024 - June 30, 2025
**Position Summary**:
The Communication Officer - Digital supports the modification and maintenance of myHDSB through SharePoint solutions. The position takes the lead in training myHDSB site owners. This position is the functional support lead for the organization’s Professional Development Management software Professional Learning. This position advises departments and web partners on effective content management strategies to enhance web presence.
The HDSB recently introduced a Work from Home Administrative Procedure. In accordance with this Administrative Procedure and with the approval of the immediate supervisor, employees who work at HDSB administrative sites may work from home for up to 50% of their regularly scheduled hours. The HDSB offers funding for professional development in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for management and administration support staff.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Creates and enhances content on myHDSB website.
Initiates department collaboration in order to derive solutions for making valuable content available to all staff.
Assists with building and maintaining websites.
Leads individual projects through to their completion.
Derives content management strategies for effective organizational web presence.
Leads use of Professional Learning and conference services
Develops and maintains Conference Services within the HDSB through the use of Professional Learning.
Involves organized criteria to be used within this area to ensure that all courses, workshops and inservices run throughout the HDSB have similar standards and consistency.
Acts as the technical leader for Professional Learning software, but is also the leader in conference standards management.
Leads training sessions for site owners
Ensures all aspects of adding/deleting/modifying site content is applied consistently throughout the site.
Ensures that established practices of meta data are deployed and implemented consistently.
Supports Organization Customers Support and Service Strategies
Includes development of online training modules
Key system digital presentations
Communications & Engagement Department overflow
Social Media communication
Develop system communication and instruction processes
Collaborate with partners concerning technical writing for system communication
Create and distribute system staff messages
**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements required**:
3 year College Diploma in a related field
2 to 4 years relevant experience
Understanding of SharePoint
Experience with front end web development, web content management and graphic design
Must be able to write thorough and concise functional design specifications
Must be able to brainstorm with others, thrive in a collaborative team environment, multi task, and quickly adapt to change
**Preferred Requirements required**:
3 year College Diploma in Computer Discipline
2 to 4 years of digital experience (digital content development and management)
Certified in SharePoint Designer, HTML, CSS, Web Parts, and workflow creation
Must have effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
Must be able to write effective communication for end users and derive well written implementation and process documentation in order to adopt department standard practices
Must have project management experience
Must have experience leading training sessions and be comfortable with public speaking
