Working under the general direction of the Director, Marketing and in collaboration with the marketing team and department leads, the position is responsible for:

- Leading the planning, development and implementation of creative and strategic public and media relations activities, tactics and products to ensure maximum exposure and awareness of RBG and its offerings.
- Working collaboratively with program areas within RBG to identify how best to promote their business streams and activities.
- Developing, executing and evaluating innovative promotional, media and public relations approaches and brand positioning strategies for new and existing products and offerings.
- Providing a range of communication services to build and cultivate a positive relationship between RBG and its broad spectrum of current and potential users.
- Implementing a strategic plan to maximize use of media spending to maximize exposure and reach new target audiences.
- Building and cultivating effective working relationships with all media outlets as well as destination and local/provincial partners.
- Identifying, organizing, planning, and executing promotional and public relations events to leverage opportunities.
- Monitoring and evaluating all public and media relations activities and events.

**Skills & Experience**
- Proven knowledge of and understanding with respect to the operation of a large multi-purpose (cultural, artistic, horticultural, conservation, recreational use, entertainment, food and beverage, etc.) venue/agency with a broad spectrum of business streams and target audiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with marketing and communication methods, approaches, techniques and practices with a focus on public relations and media affairs.
- Proven experience in delivering results through targeted public relations and media affairs activities, strategies and tactics.
- Experience with, or strong understanding of the planning, design, and management of public spaces.
- Well-developed oral and written communications skills to clearly present and share information.
- Strong analytical, strategic, project planning and project management skills, with the ability to monitor execution and results.
- Interpersonal and relationship building skills to build and cultivate effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

**Working Conditions**
- Position is required to work both indoors and outdoors. Ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. Required to be outdoor in varying conditions, heat, cold, rain, snow.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to engage in the natural lands and gardens when escorting media.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
