**Fundraising & Donor Relations Officer - Part time (21 hours/week)**
The Alzheimer Society of Durham Region (ASDR) is a community support service organization that provides programs and services to people living with dementia and their care partners in Durham Region. We work closely with other service providers to ensure quality care and support for our clients to achieve our mission to improve the quality of life of people living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia and their care partners.
We employ administrative and fund development staff, educators, social workers, social service workers, nurses, occupational therapists, recreation staff, and volunteers who work together as a team to meet the needs of people living with dementia and their care partners.

The Fundraising & Donor Relations Officer will work with the Director of Philanthropy to proactively identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with existing and prospective donors to grow and diversify revenue to ensure we meet our immediate and long-term financial goals. The Fundraising & Donor Relations Officer will possess a passion for philanthropy and a strong understanding of donor relationship management. They will exhibit the highest level of ethics and professionalism, demonstrate excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, and have a proven track record of inspiring donor support.
**What you will be doing**
- Responsibility_
- Solicit and secure mid-level donations ($1,000-$4,999) and major gifts ($5,000+) from individuals, foundations and corporations
- Conduct prospect research to identify potential mid-level and major gift donors by analyzing donor database and using external online research tools and other sources
- Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: - Initiate contact with potential mid-level and major gift donors - Develop appropriate cultivation strategies - Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure - Make solicitations when appropriate - Maintain stewardship contacts with donors
- Participate in donor meetings and fundraising events
- Identify opportunities for growth and expansion within existing relationships and potential new partnerships
- Create stewardship reports, gift agreements and other materials to support the fundraising program
- Meticulously use the donor database for moves management e.g., record donor interactions to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations
- Assist in the development of annual and multi-year plans to achieve fundraising goals

**What you will bring along**
- Education:_
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in fundraising or a related field
**Experience**:
- Proven track record with 3+ years experience in a fundraising focused role within a charitable organization
- Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:_
- A solid understanding of fundraising best practices and donor relationship management
- Superior communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal)
- Demonstrated work initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably, tactfully, and professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
- Ability to maintain and work with confidential information
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Flexible with the ability to work evenings or weekends on some occasions
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license and vehicle available to travel throughout Durham Region
- A clear Police Check with Vulnerable Persons Screening
**Travel Requirements**
- Must have insured vehicle and be able to travel throughout Durham Region
**Physical Demands**
- No special physical demands are required beyond the performance of general office duties
