**DESCRIPTION**:
Under the general direction of the Manager Field Operations, the Project Supervisor oversees the project management framework designed for Regional projects by ensuring local teams and resources are coordinated and sets prioritizes between projects.

This includes providing guidance, supervision and direction to a team of direct reports consisting of design and support staff. Facilitates extra functions and resources as required. Provides construction management with Area Coordinators for Regional and Central projects.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to)**:
**Leadership**:

- Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate a team of employees; this includes providing direction, expertise and advice to employees, identifying employee training requirements, and formally managing the performance of employees.
- Foster a positive learning environment for the team and guide employees on their skills development.
- Manage all elements of employee relations, including working closely with Human Resources on hiring, terminations, training and performance appraisals for the employee file, administering progressive discipline, and resolving labour relations issues and/or grievances.

**Supervision of Projects**:

- Supervise the delivery of all projects in the assigned areas ensuring delivery when the customer requires the service.
- Ensure that project staff are providing a superior customer experience throughout the project life cycle with quality communication on the progress of the project.
- Provide guidance or manage customer escalations brought forth by staff who were unable to resolve these matters.
- Ensure that project staff are developing and maintaining project scope and schedules during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that project staff follows established Design and Project Management standards as they plan and execute regional projects.
- Ensure procurement, risk and quality tasks occur are evaluated appropriately and controlled.
- Accountable for the project metrics, milestones and deliverables to ensure projects are on track; engage staff to take action when required and ensure delivery is in alignment with project estimate expectations.
- Review completed project close reports and analyze results in order to provide variance explanations and shared learnings.
- Special projects and other duties, as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**:

- Strong working knowledge of the project management practices.
- Strong customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills to resolve issues, evaluate possible solutions and risks, and gain consensus; this includes the ability to resolve problems, recognize opportunities for improvement and efficiency in processes and practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple and diverse priorities concurrently.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional and cross departmental teams who are geographically disbursed.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:

- A degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology, Journeyman PLT or a related discipline is required
- A minimum of 7 years of related experience is required;
- an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in Quoting, Design and/or Construction is an asset.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent certification is an asset.
- Experience leading teams is an asset.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, is an asset.

**Special Conditions**:

- Due to the geographic distribution of FortisAlberta operations, travel will be required.
- Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license.
