**Working for the Office of the Vice Provost and Dean of Students**

The Vice Provost and Dean of Students (DoS) is responsible for providing a number of specialized support services that help students achieve success and reach their academic potential. The Dean of Students’ supports all students on the university’s numerous campuses and so must employ creative strategies to meet the diverse needs of a large student population.

**Position**

Reporting to the Director and working collaboratively with the Student Life Team in the Office of the Dean of Students, the Student Integrity Education Officer (SIEO) plays a crucial role in advancing a positive and inclusive campus culture by promoting responsible academic citizenship, ethical behavior, and community engagement among students at the University. The SIEO will collaborate with diverse stakeholders, organize events, and advocate systemically for student rights to enhance the overallstudent experience. The Student Conduct and Accountability Office engages in prevention and promotion in an effort to prevent Student Conduct Policy and academic integrity violations. Major areas of responsibility designing and facilitating community accountability options; providing educational workshops and seminars to students, TAs and instructors regarding the Student Conduct Policy, restorative justice, sexual assault and other topics; awareness of policies and procedures to students, Faculties, Departments, and other interested parties; outreach to the wider community; and providing internal, provincial, national and international leadership in various areas of student conduct.
The SIEO will also, when needed, take on the role of Student Conduct Officer to ensure that violations of the Student Conduct Policy and academic integrity policies are appropriately investigated, decided, and sanctioned when warranted for all University of Alberta campuses. Addressing highly visible and sensitive matters, the SIEO must balance the safety of the community with the goal of student development and learning. A substantial component of Student Conduct and Accoutnability’s role is to mitigate, manage and prevent significant risks to the University’s reputation, as well as the risk of judicial review of discipline decisions and other civil litigation against the University.

**Duties**
- Develop and implement comprehensive initiatives that encourage responsible and ethical behaviour among students.
- Design and deliver educational programs addressing topics such as academic integrity, respectful communication, and social responsibility.
- Collaborate with relevant university offices to ensure fair and consistent handling of integrity matters, providing guidance and support to students throughout the process.
- Contribute to the development of educational materials and resources aimed at enhancing Facilitate workshops and training sessions on academic integrity, responsible citizenship, leadership, and community-building topics.
- Provide training, workshops or informational sessions through various units to faculty, staff, and TAs on issues related to student conduct, restorative justice, and sexual assaultstudents' understanding of their rights and responsibilities.
- Receive and clarify as needed complaint files from Deans, Unit Directors and University of Alberta Protective Services (UAPS).
