Youth Justice Worker

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
- Work from a person-centered, strengths-based approach to assess the strengths and needs of youth and families.
- Provide one-to-one support and outreach to youth who have multiple risk factors, including mental health challenges, addictions, and complex behaviors such as FASD, or are involved in high-risk activities (e.g., sexual exploitation, street/gang involvement, criminal activity, or self-harm).
- Provide goal-focused interventions by assessing client needs and developing service plans to assist youth/families in achieving objectives.
- Engage in community outreach efforts.
- Facilitate life skills training in both individual and group settings.
- Maintain timely and accurate reports, in accordance with COA administrative standards.
- Work within a collaborative practice model with various community agencies and organizations.
- Provide Intensive Support and Supervision (ISSP) to adjudicated youth.
- Monitor probationary curfews in the community.
- Oversee community work service requirements.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor of Arts in the social sciences, human services, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of youth and family services.
- Experience working in a non-profit or government agency.
- Knowledge of working with mental health and complex developmental behavioral conditions.
- Understanding of adolescent development and challenges related to at-risk youth.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative practices and effectively collaborate with community partners (including ministry offices, law enforcement, school districts, and health authorities).
- Strong interpersonal, counselling, oral, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Class 5 driving license and vehicle required.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedule to accommodate client needs; evening/weekend work may be required.
