**Job Summary**

Opened December 2018, the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington is the newest hotel to Burlington/Oakville. The newest hotel to Burlington/Oakville features 135 guestrooms and suites with 1800 sq. ft of flexible meeting space, indoor salt-water pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre and on-site Bistro Restaurant, Lounge & Patio.

As the Executive Housekeeper, you are responsible for the planning, organization, development and direction for the overall operation of the Housekeeping Department to ensure the achievement of departmental productivity objectives and service quality standards. Develops and implements systems for inspecting and managing the quality of housekeeping services provided and to ensure timeliness and efficiency of services; oversees inspections of housekeeping activities to ensure procedures are followed according to standard. Maintains and implements a regular maintenance program for all areas of the hotel. Responsible for recruiting and hiring, training and proper scheduling of staff and works according to productivity standards and forecasted occupancy.

**Responsibilities**
- Follow and maintain all Courtyard by Marriott standards for overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel rooms as well as public areas
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and the appearance of housekeeping & maintenance areas
- Requisition all housekeeping & maintenance supplies and equipment; maintains adequate inventory levels to provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment
- Communicate with other departments to adequately plan for housekeeping and maintenance activities
- Seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing housekeeping and maintenance practices
- Develop, implement and enforce departmental policies and procedures
- Interview and hire new employees; prepare weekly work schedules and submit payroll
- Carry out performance appraisals, mediate staff disputes, develop staff and carry out disciplinary action
- Coordinate lost & found issues, keeps record of items and stores in safe place
- Monitor key control procedures
- Develop and schedule special cleaning and preventative maintenance projects
- Inspect guest rooms, public and service areas of the hotel, ensuring that standards of cleanliness are maintained
- Establish and maintain control the inventory of guest amenities, room supplies and linens
- Ensure that health, safety and fire procedures and regulations are followed
- Coordinate all maintenance requests to ensure the efficient operation of hotel facilities
- Assure that associates follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times
- Possess thorough knowledge of chemicals and cleaning products; keep abreast of new requirements and materials that could assist in elevating efficiencies
- Ensure that staff members are properly groomed and attired, including proper and complete uniforms
- Respond to guest problems and complaints in a courteous, prompt, and professional manner
- Conduct monthly departmental meetings and attend all required in-house meetings
- Liaise with other departments, ensuring communication and the coordination of activities
- Follows all brand standards as outlined by Marriott
- Follows all policies, procedures and rules as stated in the Courtyard by Marriott safety and emergency policies and procedures
- Perform any reasonable requests as assigned or directed by management

**Required Skills**:
**- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a Housekeeping management position in focused service hotel**
- Current Courtyard brand experience preferred / Marriott brand experience an asset
- Must possess strong leadership abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, management, communication & training skills
- Health and Safety certification preferred
- WHMIS, First Aid and CPR certified are assets
- Thorough knowledge of cleaning product and techniques required
