The Camp Coordinator will provide support for M.A.D Camp from planning and running the camp until after the camp ends. This includes but is not limited to participating in the planning and coordination of summer programming including day-time youth activities that include art, music, and dance to promote mental health, and the development of programming. The incumbent will work directly to support youth who face mental health challenges and promote mental wellness to the community-at-large.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and arrange summer youth activities that promote connection, community and foster a sense of belonging amongst youth facing mental health issues.
- Determining needed supplies.
- Direct communication with parents and guardians of youth attending camp.
- Provide in-person peer support to youth with mental health issues.
- Provide resources, referrals and information about mental health, community resources and MDAM to youth seeking help.
- Support a weekly youth peer support group for individuals experiencing symptoms of mood disorders or for their families within the camp.
- Establish and maintain positive, supportive peer relationships with individuals who are seeking support.
- Maintain statistics and evaluation of programming.
- Support programming reports and reports to funders.

Desirable skills and abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills with individuals and in group settings.
- Previous experience organizing and implementing youth activities and events.
- Group facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and interact with all levels of MDAM and the general public.
- Highly motivated and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Deep connection to existing mental health, support and youth services in the community.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A demonstrated understanding of the practice of peer support, conflict resolution, suicide prevention, and other relevant skills.
- Excellent computer skills including the use of Office 365 software.
- Should be musically inclined, art inclined and/or dance/drama inclined.

Other desired requirements
- Clear criminal record and child abuse registry checks.
- Must be currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary and be returning in the fall.
- Applicants must be 30 years or under.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
