Position Summary

What will you be doing?
As a School Break Camp Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for the administration, program delivery and supervision of Town of Milton school break camp programs, ensuring all activities are safe, fun and appropriate. This position reports to the Recreation Coordinator.

Major Job Responsibilities

What will you be responsible for?- Maintaining a thorough understanding of camp policies and procedures and supporting the entire camp team in enforcing the established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of participants- Supporting the Recreation Coordinator with scheduling and camp training- Developing of program plans that uphold the principles of HIGH FIVE ®- Evaluating situations for potential risks and proactively take action to address such risks and reporting incident/concerns/actions or site damage to Recreation Coordinator- Following all established departmental safety standards and practices and Employee Code of Conduct- Reviewing registration numbers and scheduling staff accordingly to ensure appropriate supervision ratios, including the scheduling of breaks- Providing administrative support, including creating camp binders with sign in/out sheets, attendance lists and medical forms, and facilitating staff meetings- Ordering camp supplies while keeping within allotted budget, and completing VISA reconciliation within the deadlines as outlined-
- Providing leadership and supervision to Camp Leaders, coaching, developing and ensuring all performance expectations are met- Assisting with payroll processes- Carrying out HIGH FIVE® staff recognition program and staff appreciation activities and events- Daily check ins with Camp Leaders daily to ensure quality program delivery- Support camp staff, ensuring appropriate level of staff to participant numbers, and lead related programs where required- Support Camp Leaders and Inclusion Support Workers with program adaptations and behaviour management strategies for campers with inclusion needs to ensure safe and meaningful participation- Completing QUEST 2 evaluations for required camp sites- Performing all other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

What will we need from you?- Ability to work during scheduled PA Day Camps, Holiday Breaks and March Break. Dates which include:
- PA Day Adventures Camp: November 29- Festive Fun Camp: December 23, 27, 30 and January 2, 3- PA Day Adventures Camp: February 14- March Break Camp: March 10 to14- PA Day Adventures Camp: April 4- Preference will be given to those that are available to work multiple programs- Hours vary based on program registration numbers. This position typically works a full camp day, shifts are usually 8:15am-4:4:45 pm, but hours may vary- Attendance at all paid camp trainings and prep hours, that may occur outside of camp times is mandatory and a condition of employment

What skills and experience you will bring to the team?- Completion, or working toward the completion, of a post-secondary degree/diploma program in Education, Recreation & Leisure or a related field- Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a camp environment with demonstrated experience in supervision and program planning- Experience working with persons with exceptionalities- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C required- HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required- Quest 2 certification required- Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) or equivalent required-
- Under the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment.
