Manager, Residence Operations

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Responsible for managing through both University and Contract staff, the effective and efficient delivery of residence operations services including maintenance and custodial services operations, managing residence technical systems and the physical infrastructure of residence.
**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
- Knowledge of maintenance and custodial contract management program design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation methodologies, processes, and practices
- Experience forecasting, planning and implementing Deferred Maintenance programs and Capital projects
- Experience working in a University Residence with specific responsibility for Custodial and Maintenance Services
- Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
- Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Communicate effectively and concisely, both oral and written
- Skilled negotiator
- Strong customer focus
- Results oriented
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
- Independent, organized, self-motivated and with excellent problem-solving skills
**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Completion of College Diploma with honours in building sciences, or facilities management
- Minimum of seven years of previous progressive housing and residence life operations experience including two years of leadership experience
