**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Responsible for the direct implementation and management of the Residence Life Program within Carleton University. Participates and contributes to the strategic development of the Residence Life Program. This includes directly managing and hiring the team members, implementing and managing crisis intervention and providing support to student staff members

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- Completed the Conflict Resolution Training
- Completion of both Emergency First Aid and CPR Training
- Must have a good understanding of the educational and student developmental functions of a college or University Residence system and a well-developed knowledge of student affairs and relevant issues such as mental health, behavioural issues, alcohol and drugs
- Must also demonstrate a sound understanding of the philosophy and operations of a residence community within a University setting
- Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, mediation, crisis management and communications (written, oral and presentation) skills and a good working knowledge of group dynamics
- Must demonstrate experience with supervision, leadership, team management and conflict management skills
- Must possess and demonstrate strong research, program planning, development and presentation, training and evaluation skills
- Must possess administrative office experience with the ability to multi-task with a demanding workload and to work creatively and independently employing good organizational skills
- Expected to show a strong presence to the students and staff and to be visible at the various events, and in the dining hall and residence buildings. This is in order to foster connection with students in the residence community
- Must be able to work independently, as well as, part of a team in the response and resolution to issues within the residence community
- Must be able to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and balancing deadlines.
- Must possess high energy and the proven ability to motivate others
- Upon selection, the new hire will be required to obtain and pass a Police and Criminal Records Check, including vulnerable sector, as a pre-condition of employment
- Must complete all Mandatory Training requirements

**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- Completion of an undergraduate degree in related areas such as psychology, social work, education, health care, behavioural sciences
- Minimum five years of experience in the related field out of which two years of recent experience living in a University or College residence system and three years of recent community living experience, in a leadership position with progressive administrative and management experience. The incumbent must have three years’ experience providing support to individuals in distress and managing crisis situations as well as participating in on-call rotations
