Summary:
Within the context of a client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Development and collaborating with a small team at PHC Ventures located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. With the purpose of striving for innovative and with a passion for improving health care and health outcomes.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for bringing opportunities to PHC Ventures services with a focus on the consulting practice and the Health Informatics Datalab, a new custom platform built to support accelerating AI development, product validation, research discoveries, and innovative health solutions for unmet needs. The Manager is responsible for developing new partnerships across Canada and the US and fostering key business relationships with new and existing clients.

As an expert navigator of the Canadian health care, regulatory, and technology landscape, PHC Ventures provides indispensable support to corporate, institutional and individual innovators seeking to validate and commercialize their products and ideas. PHC Ventures offers a portal to Providence Health Care in Vancouver, Canada, a renowned provincial health organization whose lengthy innovation track record and size make it an ideal incubator to validate and scale innovations. PHC Ventures actively co-develops health solutions, forges unconventional partnerships, facilitates consulting relationships with PHC clinicians and other healthcare professionals, and invests in health start-ups.

Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing or a related field plus a minimum of five (5) years’ recent, related experience in business development with a proven track record in heath technology sales or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Strong interpersonal relationship management skills, a team player with a client/user orientation.
- Ability to inspire confidence and trust in the customer’s and our vision.
- Strong network in health care, specifically organizations that use data and/or health care consulting services (e.g. R&D, AI/ML health tech, pharma, medical devices and biomanufacturing).
- Strong track record of success in managing all aspects of the sales cycle.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex ideas/processes to all levels of management.
- Resourceful, with outstanding research skills.
- Ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment to deliver services with a broad business impact.
- Start-up experience is an asset.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages the entire sales cycle from prospecting and building pipeline through opportunity development, presentations, proposals, RFP responses and contract negotiations.

a. Building a solid pipeline of opportunities with a mix of near-term and longer-term close dates.

b. Attending appropriate networking activities to research and connect with prospective clients.

c. Crafting business proposals and contracts to draw in more revenue from clients.

d. Negotiating with clients to secure the most attractive prices.

e. Developing and nurturing relationships across assigned accounts and prospects.

2. Collaborates and co-ordinates activities with the various members of the Ventures team including technical, finance, operations, marketing and project management.

3. Works with clients, partners, vendors and marketing professionals to review current market trends in order to propose new business ideas that could improve revenue margins.

4. Identifies new business opportunities and clients, identifies new products, services and lines of business, and develops marketing and sales strategies to help grow business development.
