**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our growing healthcare team. As a dermatology, allergy and immunology Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our clinical practice. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting healthcare professionals, performing administrative tasks directly related to patient treatments, and providing the highest level of care to our patients.

**Summary of Duties**:

- Obtain and record health history as appropriate, including patient demographics, chief complaint, history of the present illness or injury, past medical, surgical, family and psychosocial history, medications, allergies and systems review.
- Conduct physical assessments and interpret findings.
- Utilize primary and secondary assessment results to formulate a differential diagnosis and determine if further clinical investigation is required.
- Order and complete preliminary interpretation of necessary diagnostic tests, which may include, but are not limited to, hematology, microbiology, chemistry, serology, urinalysis, blood gas, ECG, peak flow and plain film x-ray.
- Perform the following diagnostic procedures: Collect minor surgical samples, perform liquid nitrogen treatments, ear syringing, and other minor procedures.
- Formulate a treatment and management plan based on assessment and investigation results, availability of services and individual needs of patients.
- Schedule patients visits/follow ups/local exams like patch and prick tests, or refer them to the clinic clinical trials, if eligible for that.
- Act as a patient liaison between the clinic and the clinical research team, facilitating seamless communication and coordination among patients, healthcare providers, and researchers, ensuring patients are well-informed and supported throughout their participation in clinical trials for innovative therapies.
- Promote wellness and health maintenance.
- Answer patient referral to the original physician.
- Produce reports and forms according to CPSO guidelines and clinic policies.
- Advocate on behalf of patients.
- Manage patient care through Patient Support Programs (PSP) by assessing patient needs, evaluating treatment options, creating treatment plans, coordinating care, and gauging progress.
- Maintain standards of professionalism including but not limited to confidentiality, documentation, product development, and organization.

**Required Skills**:

- Honest and ethical with an ability to identify patient needs
- Experience using Accuro or a similar EMR database an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of chronic disease management
- Knowledge and awareness of principles and issues related to the delivery of primary care
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with computers, typing, and ability to learn and use EMRs
- Demonstrated initiative, ability to prioritize and work independently, and organization
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement and willingness to actively participate in continuous quality improvement activities/initiatives

**Required Qualifications**:

- Minimum Bachelor's Degree
- International Medical Graduates (IMG) strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting
- Eligible to work in Canada/Ontario

**Remuneration**:

- Hourly rate starting at $22/hr; negotiable based on experience and education
