Co-op Student, Purchasing Support

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Supply Chain, the Co-op Student, Purchasing Support will provide support to the Supply Chain team. The work term will start in May 2023.

**As a Co-op Student, Purchasing Support, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to)**:

- Perform a variety of general tactical duties as required to support purchasing activities
- May execute and generate purchase orders, based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services, and materials
- Support purchase order expediting activities
- Assist in sourcing initiatives
- Communicate supplier performance issues
- Maintain professional relationships with suppliers
- Coordinate, distribute and maintain data for assigned departmental reports
- May also have the opportunity to support other Supply Chain departments, such as Receiving and Inventory

**What you require to be successful in the role**:

- Enrolled in Materials or Supply Chain Management program from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of MRP is essential
- Effective computer skills including MS Excel and Access are an asset
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and meet work schedules
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to complete standard reports
- Hands-on experience in prior internships or work experience would be considered an asset
