What you’ll be doing

You will provide analytical and research support to the professionals within the Trading Financials & Public Sector - Trading Credit, Corporate Banking, Capital Market (FPS-TC) team. The Trading Credit team manages the credit relationships for a portfolio of complex, demanding accounts, often involving a high level of profile within the Bank in a variety of industry segments. The role is located within the non-bank financial institutions section, which includes broker-dealers, asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds and insurance companies throughout the Americas.

How you’ll succeed- Research - Provide a broad range of analytical and research support to all the professionals within the Trading Credit team- Analysis - Complete specific tasks including financial statement and data analysis, financial modeling and industry research. Analysts develop their skills through on the job training, mentoring and industry training- Internal relationships - Build and maintain relationships with CIBC World Markets marketers/traders and partners in Risk Management, responding promptly to requests for credit facilities from the trading floor- Credit exposure - Assist in the on-going monitoring of credit quality and global credit exposure of the portfolio by remaining current with counterparty’s financial condition, industry and economic trends. Appropriately identify any relevant changes in the financial condition/business of a client- Due diligence - Assist with due diligence activities and supports senior bankers with regard to activities of many parties, including Legal and Documentation- Recommendations - Provide sound, timely, and well-communicated recommendations for credit facilities supported by a thorough analysis and well-executed interpretation of relevant financial, industry, business, and market information- Risk Management - Ensure that the portfolio meets with appropriate risk management guidelines and remains current with the changing methodologies

Who you are- You have attained a strong undergraduate (business) degree and 1-5 years related experience. Post-graduate degrees, such as a CFA, MBA are viewed favorably, but are not essential- You have unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation. Approach to the workplace that is based on open communication and a team atmosphere- You can demonstrate a broad working knowledge of derivatives and other trading floor products- You have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate complicated concepts and financial data to senior management- You possess excellent organizational and time management skills to deal with multiple and sometimes conflicting demands and time constraints. Excellent adaptability and flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment- You possess well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills- You are technically savvy. Strong Excel skills and financial modeling experience is a plus
